I studied for my test the same way as tunde10; however, I would recommend the approach of reallyfedup. It should only take you 10 minutes to complete the test if you don't do a review. I believe the cost of the test is £50. Note that in some test centres (not sure if this applies to all), you need ...

Then, shouldn't everyone be allowed to apply for extension 3 months early - irrespective of whether or not they have enough leave to complete the qualifying residential period? Not sure why everyone else needs to wait until the 28th day before the anniversary of entry / switching. I don't see why n...

Annex B 2.2 is a way of saying that UKBA will treat the days between granting of the visa and entry to the UK as any other days when considering your 5 year continuous stay for ILR. This makes perfect sense, so all you have to do is include all the days you were not in the UK after granting of the v...

You need to satisfy the CW that you are economically active. There have been recent cases in this forum where the visa holders were out of work when they applied for ILR and were successful at it. I think UKBA realises that not everyone can be fully employed all the time - not even for migrants - es...

AFAIK there is no restriction on the type of employment for HSMP visa holder. As long as you can show that you satisfy all the requirements of the PBS, and still economically active, then that is acceptable.

You should be OK. As long as you are in employment at the time that you apply for ILR than your application should be easy.

You're in a catch-22; without the passport you cannot do your LiUK test, and without the LiUK 'pass' certificate you cannot apply for ILR.

Without any guaranteees from UKBA, maybe it's best to wait for the current process to finish and then apply for ILR.

Thanks for sharing!

I'm somewhat surprised that you were asked for an employer letter given that you were on HSMP+T1?

The comment by the CW concerning the reason for granting you ILR - something about your work - seems obtuse. Any reason why she said that?

Illegal immigration is a crime that affects all who are here legally. As a law abiding citizen you have done the proper thing and reported it to the relevant authorities. This is no different to witnessing any other criminal acts.

You will have difficulties with border control at best and your ILR revoked at worst case scenario. To retain your ILR status, you will need to satisfy the following points: 1. you did not spend more than 2 years outside the UK; 2. you have maintained ties to the UK (e.g family, assets); 3. UK is yo...

Why not try East Dulwich - it's my neck of the woods. Good for families, reasonable rent, and not that difficult to get to London Bridge (Southern Rail, 11 mins from Peckham Rye Station) and from there take the Jubilee line to CW.

When I took my LiUK test in Brixton I was asked to check everything including name and driving license number. Normally, when you make a booking, you only give them a first and last name, which then goes into their system. In my situation, I added two initials so that it mirrors what's shown in my I...

Since ILR is now a PBS, she will need to score enough points for income, qualification and age to be eligible. Not working for a lengthy period will affect her chances of getting enough points for income. Time is quickly running out.

This impression is probably due to the fact that many people were asked about their current income - whether it was lower or higher than the last time they applied. I think this is only so that the CW can determine if income is going to be a problem for the applicant.

Three things you need to consider: 1. The discretion to include days between EC and entry date applies only to applicants who have been 'granted 5 years continuous leave'. My Visa was for 2 years follow by 3, which 'can be' construed as '5 years continuous' - that is, there were no breaks in between...

Seems like a few of the forum members are taking this personally, which I think is wrong. The OP does contain some important information that should help others in the the same situation. The approach to dealing with IOs will vary depending on the individual. In any event, I don't think we should be...

You might be better off looking at Welwyn Garden City - Hatfield - Potters Bar corridor.

There are IT jobs within these areas and it is quite easy to commute to central London.

Hi marlasinger,

Congratulations on your success with your ILR.

You didn't mention anything about the number of days you were out of the UK. Did you have any issues with that? And what evidence (if any) did you bring to support your case?
