Travelling between the UK and EU post Brexit as Dual Citizen

Hi all, I am an EU national who also holds the UK citisenship since last year and I was wondering whether I will always need to travel to the EU with both passports post Brexit to ensure I can seamlessly pass borders? Usually I travel just on my EU passport/ID card, but I imagine that would cause pr...

DS-160 form - Travel Companion

Hi all, I am currently filling out the DS-160 form for a US B2 Tourism visa. I am planning to travel to the US for a week with my girlfriend in November and there is one question on the form which I find confusing and to which I can't find a sensible answer on Google: Are there other persons traveli...

Re: Proof of identity for British citizenship application

The way I read what it says for supporting documents at the end of the AN form is that you need either a passport or a national ID card. I don't think a German driver's licence is good enough. You can use your German ID card if you don't want to use the passport. Also, if you apply via NCS you get t...

Re: Passport delivery after citizenship ceremony (JCAP)

Hi OP, I would first of all contact HMPO - you can google their phone number easily. They are actually way more helpful than anyone on the HO phone lines so they should be able to tell you directly why you haven't received it yet. If they say they haven't received the confirmation from the HO that y...

Re: British Passport for Baby of EU national

If they indeed require some sort of identification from you for the baby's application, you can also use your German ID card and keep your passport. I applied for naturalisation using my German ID card. PS: Not sure if you can use NCS when going the MN1 route, but if you can they will photocopy your...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

So even when it said Decided, it might not yet have been decided. Once a decision has been made, a letter will be sent which has to be signed for when you receive it, Nonsense. The letters are sent out standard second class post (not signed for). I am only repeating what someone from the official n...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

So, the UKVI office is testing a new online service which is great as I won't be anxious about the post every single day https://contact-ukvi.homeoffice.gov.uk/app/visa_application/checkvisastatus Still in beta, and it seems like applications done in less than 4 weeks might not be traceable yet. Is...

Re: date and place of first arrival in the UK

I guess the best way is to choose one of the two and then to explain that you aren't sure on the extra notes space at the back. For the date - looks like you started work on Monday - I realise it's 15 years back, but do you remember where you first stayed and if you went to work directly the next da...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

Hi all, I am a bit in a hurry, but good news!!!! I got a 'Citizenship Invitation' letter. It starts with 'I am pleased to tell you that this application for British citizenship has been approved' and then goes on talking about attending the ceremony. Now, I know that I am supposed to receive two let...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

The status checker is an experiment, people have had the status change to decided and it's been a mistake, further checks when they've enquired if you read back through. The checker is about as reliable as the English weather. But hopefully everyone will be sorted eventually So are you saying that ...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

I have a bit of an odd question. I randomly decided to check the reference that is 1 digit before mine (e.g. ends on a 6 if mine ends on a 7) and it was decided. Then I checked the one before the 6 (e.g. 4 because 5 did not seem to exist) and it was still Awaiting Decision. Have we had any informat...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

I have a slightly off topic question (apologies in advance CR001), but didn't know where else to put it and didn't think it was worth starting a new thread about it. Royal Mail claims on their website that second class mail takes 2-3 business days to be delivered. HO mail is sent via second class ma...

Congratulations It is now confirmed from your status changed that Homeoffice is working on Saturdays if not full day , than at least half day. Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

I almost can't breathe... my online status changed to 'Decided' overnight. I definitely checked last night after midnight and it was still on awaiting decision, so it seems like it was updated between then and Saturday early afternoon (probably 12.00?). I am so excited and I am moving out in 2 weeks...

Out of interest, can I ask how many of you did not receive a confirmation e-mail as part of their application and still had their cases decided within less than say 3 months? I never received a confirmation e-mail and it appears that even though my application is super straight forward (EEA PR, same...

Re: Notifying my home country after obtaining British Citizenship?

Hi Dimik, Check the website of the German Embassy in London, they have an FAQ about Brexit and getting a dual citizenship with the UK. Last time I checked, you don't have to do anything as long as the UK is still part of the EU. So if your naturalisation happens before the UK exits the EU you are fi...

2. Yes, you need to prove your residence and for that, you need to provide all your payslips, bank statements, bills, p60 etc Please correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you need all of these. Surely P60s for each year are enough and perhaps something to cover the period from the last P60 un...
