I've never been in Switzerland, but I've made the mistake of visiting Lithuania. They're not only dearly beloved, they treat you like a piece of dirt even if you are white, once they figure you are a foreigner. Especially the way Lithuanian guys treat foreign men (again, including white foreigners ...

There is no such thing as a US transit visa afaik. If that info is correct, you'll have to apply for a B1/B2 tourist visa.

It sure does, thank you! Just so you know, I'm not the Lithuanian citizen in question, my girlfriend is. And obviously we have plans on moving to England together at some point. What I understand from your words is, once we're married, I can move with her before she gets a job, but she has to get a ...

Thanks John, you rock. One question still standing though, what difference does WRS make for that 12 months? I mean, say, what is the difference between what happens to a Dutch national and what happens to an A8 national during the 12 months? Same rights with the addition of having to officially ...

I have questions about the family permit too, so I thought I'd post on this topic instead of opening a new one at this time. Does the EU citizen have to start working before she can get her non-EEA spouse into England on a family permit? And if so, does she have to have worked for a certain period ...

I hope it includes Lithuania too, so that I can go visit my girlfriend without dealing with their horrendous bureucracy. I obtained visas from a bunch of countries, including difficult ones like USA and Norway, and yet the Lithuanians don't even let me apply for a visa; because my girlfriend doesn't ...

Thanks for such a detailed and useful reply! Am I right in thinking however that Sofia in Bulgaria is far, far cheaper than Warsaw or Prague at the moment? Like, maybe even half the price? Yes. Bulgaria is dirt cheap, probably not half the price though. But it's also a place where you get stopped ...

The situation sounds similar to that of my best friend's. He's American, his girlfriend (now wife) is Czech. The situation was even more complicated than yours, in that I introduced them as penfriends, and they met in person only after writing for 5 years, and the guy didn't even live in the USA ...

Unless he has to move to Canada immediately for some reason (avoiding military duty or something like that), your best bet is to sponsor him to move to Canada as a permanent resident.

DUI/DWI is taken very seriously by Canadians. There may be ways to get pardoned or "rehabilitated" from inadmissibility, but those are usually way too detailed and context-specific to be handled on a forum like this. Now, applying for permanent residency with a good reason is one thing, applying for ...

Are you physically together or not? If so, you can apply for PR after living together for one year, or once you're married. If not, you can apply as a conjugal couple.

I94 is an entry clearance card issued by the US customs to aliens (non-immigrants) entering the USA. For visa-waiver nationals, it's green, for visa nationals, it's white. It has absolutely nothing to do with permanent residency! If you go to the USA as a visitor, they WILL give you one of those on ...

It's really hard to apply for asylum and get accepted with an American passport. The only logical (or partly logical) solution I can think of for you is go to Cuba or Venezuela and tell them about the vice of the US government. They're practically enemies, so they could well be a sucker for such an ...

How cheap of a place are you looking for? If you are looking for a good European city to live in with ridiculously low prices, I second those who say Prague. Warsaw could very well be an option, as it's almost equally beautiful and cheap. Also very calm, and pretty much ideal for a novelist. BUT ...
