Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Just a heads up, a few have commented about the application form included in the FBR certificate. It looks like you can apply online now if you are in GB for the first Irish passport. I think this is a recent change because it was not available when I sent off my application. It's €5 cheaper to app...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My passport application form tells me to send it to Cork. It says you can use Passport Express but recommends sending directly to Cork.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Picked up my FBR certificate this morning. 🙌. Date application received at London embassy was 17 September 2018 date on certificate is 24 September 2019. I did have to resubmit new photos which created a delay of nearly 2 weeks so I think I would have come in just under the 12 month mark. And it's ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Great to read about so many recent approvals. I was approved today! I think it would have happened a few weeks ago but for a few questions about documents. But very happy and relieved. Great service from Dublin once my case was allocated to a case officer. So, I'm about 53 weeks from original recei...

Not sure if you've already tried this but could you take a free trial with Ancestry and see what you can find on there?

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Do you believe they would accept address proofs via email or it will need to be posted to Ireland? I should call them, I think. The new address of my apartment was updated over the phone, but I'm sure that address confirmation email will come through. I'd call them but I'm sure they'll want them po...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello, Regarding the address confirmation, I would like to put the address of my office. Would I be able to do that or do I gave to show proof of address? My home address has changed since I submitted by papers so long ago. Now, I have a front door with a mail slot, but often my flatmates step on t...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks Maddeningbike for the link to the article. Useful to get a handle on the number of FBR applications. But the sting of the tale was towards the end of the article. The British guy states that, whilst he did not vote in the 2016 EU referendum (because he lives in Ireland), if he could have vot...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you so much everyone!! I hope to see everyone getting the same email very soon!! I’m in the United States and my application went directly to Dublin. Thanks for the tip on confirmed delivery. I will definitely do that! Laurie Congratulations - great to see the August applications ticking off.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Is there any pattern to when they're issued/received? I seem to remember on the previous thread speculation about certificates being printed in batches (last Friday of the month - might have made that up?). So, even though approval dates may differ, when people find out seems to come in clusters. Do...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

On the 14th month anniversary of the receipt of my application I phoned for an update. The good news is I got through easily but the bad news is there is no news and no update. They just said it was active and to call back in a while. Hi Jacqui Is yours straightforward or have they previously been ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Well guys, my wait is over. I received my FBR certificate and documents this morning. So it would appear August 2018 applications are being processed and it’s quite quick once you make it to the top of the pile. Finding this forum was a massive comfort when I’d sent off my application but not heard...

Re: Witnesses for a FBR application

Hi Lee. Well that was a complete waste of time. I stopped by my GP practice today and the receptionist told me GPs don't sign passports anymore. Not even for a fee, which I was willing to pay. I have to say, I wouldn't recognise my GP practice if it was actually helpful, but that's another story. S...

I wish I had done this prior to the birth of my children.
Oh, god, me too! But some of us never thought we'd ever have to worry about this being something we'd ever have to do.

Glad for you.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

There does seem to have been a spike in applications over last summer. I wonder if going/coming back from holiday focussed the mind on what may be lost? I know it renewed my anger. Of course, some people may have had difficulty getting their paperwork together as well. Frustratingly, I did have my d...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

If you value dual citizenship avoid Germany, Austria, Japan, Panama, Netherlands (for time being) do not allow dual citizenship . Germany allows dual citizenship if both citizenships are EU or Swiss. Technically, Spain doesn't allow dual citizenship but, I believe, doesn't actually take any action ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Those of you that are joining in Sulla's hysterical chorus of contempt need to take a reality check. We all know that the root cause of the slower processing times is Brexit. happen. There's no contempt from me. I think some of us just check in here for news and would love to see progress. I have h...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I was told 12+ months on webchat (when you could still do that). How accurate that is, I've no idea. I suspect those answering calls can see dates of receipt on a database and have a script about timescales to manage expectations. And, of course, now is peak passport renewal time which will take pre...

So my FBR application process has come to an end. Today I went to the post office to pick up the post I had missed yesterday while I was at work and it was indeed my FBR! Mine was not laminated like Sulla’s was, but they did take one of my passport photos and it is semi-laminated onto the top left ...
