Also, in the application, when it asks about the spouse details (that is yourself), input British. The form by default assumes then the applicant is applying as per Section 6(2) plus the 3 year evidence. Also clarify your other nationality (Aus) in the cover letter or add in the form itself.

Select the correct category while filling the AN application. It asks if you have a valid passport. Select NO. Then it will ask details of the expired passport. As long you have a valid ILR, there should be no issues. If your passport expired in 6/2020, add some proof of address e.g. bills and ...
As Vinny said, you do not need LIUK for ILR. However, you would need to pass English B1 SELT and LIUK both if you plan to apply for Nationality in the future.

Look for free appointments. You will get one hopefully.
Not necessarily it takes 4-6 months. Some applications are accepted in less than a month also. It varies, it can take up to 6 months standard processing, less or more.
Update: Home Office overturned their decision and granted the EUSS family permit. However, it wasted 1.5 years of the newly wed couple’s life!!!! Shame on HO!
