When did your friend get married? If after the 31st December 2020 then he has to go the UK spouse visa way and show the relevant amount applicable for spousal visa applications.

That's right. Switzerland is not bound by Directives and whichever extra rights it gives to EU citizens or their family members.

And you cant' be planning to go to Denmark, you should be sure that you are going to Denmark if you want your parents to apply under the Directive. Them getting a visa all depends on you going there and them joining or accompanying you oppose to them getting the visa first and then you going.

Exercising treaty rights is the same good or bad in any country you decide on. For Switzerland your parents will have to apply for a long stay visa to join you if you plan on exercising treaty rights there. Your parents will have to proof dependency on you.
