She received her new UK passport after several weeks, however the citizenship certification and foreign passport she needed to apply with were never returned. Mistake on application form

Hello, Realised that I'd made a mistake when completing my wife's citizenship form, I used two referees who are related. I was somewhat distracted during this part of the application and submitted it without realising the error; only caught it when I was preparing the forms for the referees to sign....

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

My MiL had her ceremony scheduled for 10/12, however two weeks ago she received a letter that she was being instead offered a virtual ceremony to take place today. It was very quick and easy, and the end result is that the MiL is finally a British citizen. Now just need to wait for the certificate t...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Hello all, My MiL is a bit concerned now that she hasn't received anything from her council (Bucks). She was approved on 03/06/20 - as per the HO letter. Based on the formula she surely should've received something by now? We've tried contacting the council but they've not been particularly helpful....

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Anyone here from Buckinghamshire (Bucks) Council. I know my case was approved only recently (7th September) compared to many others on this forum who have been waiting for much longer, but thought it would be worth checking if someone is from my council and what's the trend there. We're in Bucks, g...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

In light of the different info and approach by the various councils, my MiL sent an email to her council (Bucks) and they said that they still don't have her certificate, however they said that the HO is indeed printing them again.

Nothing to do but wait :-(

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I just chased up our local council for my MiL (Bucks) and they don't have her certificate yet or any info as to if they're receiving them - but they are doing virtual ceremonies.

Re: MiL naturalisation application - forgot to indicate age-related waiver for Life in UK test

Interesting, thanks for the reply.

MiL is from a non-English speaking country, who knows? Hopefully the system/caseworker/ghost in the machine will exercise sound judgement when they see the case.

Will let you know how it goes.

MiL naturalisation application - forgot to indicate age-related waiver for Life in UK test

Hi,

We uploaded my MiL's application for naturalisation, however just realised we forgot to indicated that she is exempt from knowledge of English and the Life in the UK exam due to her age.

Can one phone the home office to amend this!?!

Applying for citizenship after 12 months following settled status granting

Hi all,

Just anxious to get my family member's application for citizenship underway. She received settled status in March 2019 (the document was received on 14/03/19).

Does she need to wait 12 months to the day that she received the document, or can she apply slightly earlier?
