Please see http://www.immigrationboards.com/britis ... 91324.html

HO has initiated process to revoke British Citizenship for a few people when applying for first adult passport outside UK. Avoid it if possible.

IIRC you can only register within one year of birth to qualify as Indian citizen by descent.

Re: Delays in NEWBORN British Passport Application

I experienced similar delays and apparently they had sent a letter to the work address of my referee to confirm the identity of newborn on the official company letterhead.

Please ask your referee to check the mail at their work address to see if they received a similar letter

Re: Criminal Case Filled in India

The stay has only suspended the proceedings but the Form AN guidance is clear that you need to declare any case where you _may_ have to goto court. Technically, you are already in court so it has to be declared. If it is quashed, no need to declare it as it will absolve you of all criminal liability...

Re: Criminal Case Filled in India

Please see my replies at http://www.immigrationboards.com/british-citizenship/uk-naturalisation-with-498a-case-in-india-t291845.html I would recommend that you do not apply for naturalisation till the cases are quashed. If you decide to do so, please declare them in your application clarifying that ...

Re: UK Naturalisation with 498a case in India

You are welcome. Lok Adalat quashing is equivalent to HC.

1. No need to mention. You were never charged or convicted. The cases ended without conclusion on your character.
2. If they are quashed without any outcome, they should not affect your application

Re: UK Naturalisation with 498a case in India

I am presuming you have a FIR against you which is pending quashing from a High Court. An active FIR should be declared. The Form AN guidance states that you should declare any cases in which you might have to goto court and an FIR IMHO falls under that ambit. Although HO likely doesn’t check with I...

Re: ILR to Citizen

Apologies, missed your other question. Once you become a BC, apply for OCI and you can live and work in India without restrictions forever. There’s no expiry to OCI, just the card has to be renewed once you are 50 years old because of facial changes.

Re: First Adult British Passport Application, currently living overseas

I think you are rationalising your own circumstances. HO has come down hard on dual citizens who have had similar profile and history and you need to ask yourself if it’s worth the risk? All you have to do is apply for your first passport from the UK to mitigate the risk. Why not do that? Why go dow...

Re: Dubai Visa on Arrival for Indian passport holder with UK ILR

Generally holding a UK ILR doesn’t confer any additional travel rights. UAE however does provide for Visa on Arrival for Indian citizens with US green card but not the UK ILR.

To the best of my understanding you will need to follow the same travel guidelines as Indian citizens.

This is different from my experience. I submitted my application at 12:13 AM. The payment confirmation email I received from WorldPay was based on GMT but the time on application (checked again in the downloaded PDF) is 12:13 AM and also clearly mentions the time zone as British Summer Time. Might b...

Re: Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode

You will be taking extreme risk by applying for your first British passport from outside U.K., especially if you are a dual citizen. Please see http://www.immigrationboards.com/british-citizenship/sru-revocation-of-british-citizenship-t287178.html for a recent example, where the revocation process h...

Best to scan and upload yourself too. UKVCAS will also scan and upload 3 versions of it (UV, B&W, Color) but they are known to make mistakes. Doesn’t hurt to have two copies uploaded.
