Re: Help!! Patronymic hell...

Yep, definitely cover letter explaining - and I'd say preferably one with some sort of legal authority (like an attorney) explaining the local laws and why the two names are the same thing, it's just a question of transliteration. It may not help with passport, but it should work for citizenship. It...

Re: E-MAIL REPLY FROM: FMT Admin Support Nationality Group

For those of you that got the "21 days" email, how long after that email did your decision letter actually arrive?

I just got the "21 days" response today (yay!) and was interested in other people's experiences.

Re: Dual citizen proof of identity

I was advised, and this was accepted by NCS, to put all nationalities, and provide the passports covering all those nationalities. I'm an EU and non-EU national and have lived in the UK as an EU national, but I still list the other as it's a fact about me that they ask about. Likewise, my previous m...

Re: Council Tax and Naturalisation Application

I doubt it's something that they would concern themselves with, or look into. I don't pay any council tax at all - my place has all bills included. I don't think they care. I think I saw from another thread that you applied end of November. I did too and haven't heard back, either. It's been 3 month...

Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Process

I have applied on 21/12/2017 through NCS. I can see here that january applications already got their approval.this is not fair.why does HO do that?!!!!🙁😔 Likely because they applied using the ONLINE form, which is resulting in quicker decisions. It's still irksome seeing people that applied signifi...

Re: i m widow for a British citizen

I can sadly confirm from all advice I've received that for purposes of naturalisation, being widowed is functionally the same as being divorced. We widows/widowers don't count as spouses of British nationals, despite the circumstances being so diffrent from a divorce.

Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Process

I'm so frustrated that NCS or postal applications seem to be taking so much longer than online - in fact it feels that even postal are even going through faster than NCS. I would have used the online version, but it was announced/released just TWO WEEKS after my NCS appointment (I applied very end o...

Re: Employment verification letter

I used P60s, and then payslips to cover the period between the last P60 and now (to show that I was still employed). Letter for employer is only to replace those things- like if you can't get hold of your P60s/enough payslips, and need some other proof to cover that time period.

Re: Change of postal address ......

https://visa-address-update.service.gov.uk/

But you'll need to be able to provide a proof of address for your cousin's address: "recent documents showing your new address (ie utility bills, bank, credit card or mortgage statements, rental agreement, council tax bill or benefits statement)"

They sent all my originals (like you, I used the passport return service) back with the approval when it came. I also didn't include a return envelope.

Tick no and move on, they changed the rule. It's still good practice to keep track of those absences, though, since one still needs to list them all when applying for naturalisation.

For me, NCS is/was totally and 100% worth it just to have avoided sending my passport and original documents.

Re: Check the status of your application online - New service

The one useful thing about the application tracker was that if it changed to Decided and ages later you still hadn't received anything in the post, you'd at least know to expect something. I know someone whose EEA(PR) paperwork was sent back to the Home Office because she wasn't at home for the deli...
