Dual Canadian and British with a Canadian Spouse to Germany?

I'm Dual for Canada and the UK, married to my Canadian Husband. We're looking at moving to Germany to work for a branch of the company my husband works for. I have no idea where to start... is there a spousal visa that my husband can apply for? I haven't lived in the UK (or any other EU country) for...

I don't entirely fit into the category, but I thought my information might help in some way: * EU-Country of worker: Dual UK/Canada * Non-EEA country of spouse: Canada * Date of application for residence card for spouse: Haven't applied yet * Approved, Denied, or Pending (if approved, supply date of...

Thanks for making that a heck of a lot clearer Static. I hope this all plays out in our favour! My fingers are crossed now as I go to bed. Probably will send up a couple prayers too! Hope you praying for me too! Sure need it :) I am working my BUTT off :D and it's wonderful but so strange for a cha...

Ok, obviously I'm a newbie at all of this... so please forgive me by asking fairly idiotic questions! Am I right in my assumption that what they are trying to do with this case is to remove the "previous EU state residency" clause from the immigration laws? Is that what it's about? I swear I will ha...

Well here's the thing... my husband works in policy and fraud detection, but he does not have any IT qualifications. So it might be difficult for him to find a job in the IT market. I wish I knew if my status as a member of the EU will impact badly on a work permit application. If we go through the...

Thanks guys! :) I wish I could say that his company will set everything up for him, but I've been told they won't. That would mean they have to spend money on things, so they won't. We've been told that he would quit here, and basically be assured a position over there when he arrives. Might be too ...

You know, in light of all this, I think we are leaning toward just trying to apply for a green card or work permit (still trying to figure out what the difference is between them) from Canada before heading over as well as a UK spousal visa for Northern Ireland. I am just hoping against hope that wh...

Re: Can I trust advice from Irish Consulate?

Erik84 - I will be very interested to see if you get a reply and what they will say to you! This is the way moving to a new EU country is supposed to work. The only variation is supposed to be when the n on-EU spouse is somebody who requires a visa, then they need to apply for it before travelling....

Can you consider Britain instead, nohinsara? Not 100 % sure that you would have to go thru this same EU1 BS than most of us here, but when it looks likely, UK does seem a lot better place.. Oh how I wish I could. I miss the UK very much and would be very happy to go there. The reason we are set on ...

Well that's quite worrying. This woman I spoke to made it all seem so simple and straight forward. When I sounded doubtful and mentioned the "troubles with the EU1" business she said quite frankly that she had heard no such thing. So I'm back to the start then. I should get my husband to try to appl...

Can I trust advice from Irish Consulate?

I just spoke with someone at the Irish Consulate in Canada, and wondering if what they told me is actually true! I began the call asking if my status as a British National would cause problems for my husband if he applied for an Irish Green Card (Because that's what I was thinking we'd have to apply...

Please help a confused Canadian

I've had a look around this forum and I'm still confused. I understand that people applying for Irish spousal visas are being hung out to dry by Irish Immigration and the Justice Department. I am just wondering if there is going to be a problem for us... I am dual national, Canadian and British. My ...

I hope there's an update soon.

Still more information as I just don't trust ABTRAN. This is my email to UKvisas and the response I got from them. I hope it helps someone out there that has the same questions I did. We are preparing to apply for the spousal visa for my husband (he's Canadian, I'm British, we live in Canada). I und...

OK I've sort of answered my own question here, but I thought I would post it for the benefit of anyone else that's wondering the same thing. I don't know if I really believe the answer I got though. I've called ABTRAN and asked how we could be present and settled if we are going together. I was told...

Spouse Visa - Present and Settled?!

I've run a quick search on this topic and come up with nothing. Please forgive me if this has been asked before. I am dual national British/Canadian. Husband is Canadian. From what I gather for the spousal visa there needs to be two major things in place - Money to go over with and accommodations to...

Directive/2004/38/EC - I had no idea I could be the sponsor! - even if I'm going over at the same time as my husband? How could I sponsor him if I had no job or flat?
