Re: Travel Guidance for non-eu family members

They have the right to be with you longer than 3 months. You might have issues on your way out but they can't legally do anything since you are an EU citizen and a family. If you do not intend to stay in a Schengen state longer than 3 months, no need to register. You will be considered a tourist.

Re: Non-Eu spouse schengen visa for Netherlands rejected

this is insane. have you tried calling / emailing the consulate? and also reporting this to solvit? makes no sense whatsoever. I have reported it to Solvit and only contact I have had with them was to sign a standard information disclosure form and haven't had any reply from them since. I haven't c...

Re: Can I or should I complain to Solvit?

I understand. Thanks!

By the way does this mean one could ask for a 1, 2 or 5 year visa?

You will get what you apply for.
Field 29 and field 30 are for the validity period.
Multi entry in field 24 would be also a good idea.

Re: Can I or should I complain to Solvit?

Thank you mgb. I applied for less than 90. I didn't know any better at the time. However from you other posts I thought it was a right to be present for 90 days, therefore it should have been issued for 90 with validity of 180. That's why I am asking about this. Since embassy gave only 30 day stay w...

Can I or should I complain to Solvit?

I am grateful we didnt run into problems like many of you here by uninformed staff at embassies worldwide. So I don't want to come across as a fussy, unsatisfied person but I have to ask: - As the non-EU spouse of a EU citizen I applied for a Schengen visa for Germany, for a 10 day trip. - Consulate...

Re: Applying Germany work permit from UK

You are living in the UK. You can apply from there. You should check the processing times with the Germans but it can be anywhere from few weeks to few months.

Re: Documents proving rights as the non-EU spouse of EU citizen?

mgb, thank you so much for explaining. I am really grateful. Wish I could do more besides saying thanks. This answers my questions and beyond. The family member need only a visa for crossing the border if accompany or join the eu citizen. The term is "entry visa" in article 5. The right for a uncond...

Re: Documents proving rights as the non-EU spouse of EU citizen?

Hi @mgb! Thank you for taking the time to answer. I learned a lot from your posts on this forum. I checked the document but I do not see anything about not having to produce a return ticket or show financial means or using EU queues. If I run into a border guard who isn't well aware of the condition...

Re: Documents proving rights as the non-EU spouse of EU citizen?

It is my understanding having read posts here and "Your EU" webpage that as the non-EU spouse of an EU citizen: - I can use the "EU" passport queues - I do not have to present a return ticket (although I have one..) - And I do not need to show how much money I am carrying if asked about finances Wh...

Re: German Residence Permit - Self Sufficient or Self Employed?

Besides registering at the town-hall, doesn't the OP need to register elsewhere as self-sufficient, self-employed, or employed to officially start exercising right of free movement?

Documents proving rights as the non-EU spouse of EU citizen?

I have travelled extensively in and around Europe (the Schengen area) many times. However it was mostly for business with a Type-C business visa issued by Germany, France, Italy etc. I have also lived in the UK for many years. However, for the first time ever, I will be entering the Schengen zone wi...
