HI...can the person who voted "no" spare a few words around their situation? This is really concerning for me. My husband was refused spousal visa...usual story, I'm italian, he's South African. I'm here 11 years, he's here 6, but we never lived abroad. He has a work permit, but I would be seriously...

hei so sorry to hear Static  But just want to say this is what life and marriage is also about. If a person is not willing to go through the "thick of things" maybe it wasn't going to work out in the long run anyway. But best of luck with things, from what I gather the UK seem to be better with...

Can someone, anyone shed any light on this? Is this the famous court case that many of our lives depend on???

I'm so sick and tired of all this it's not funny.

As a last resort we would look into that, but after me living here for 11 years & my husband for nearly 6 years, this is where our lives are! We don't really want to pack up & go because we're forced to do that. But if that's what it comes to what else can one do?
Sad...but true!

Yeah but, we were told by Solvit and DOJ no point in involving legals as this is a court case not an individual's situation.

All the same I'd take any route at this stage.

Hum...that's the million dollar question. I don't know - we don't know - maybe apply for another work permit, maybe apply for naturalization seen as my husband is here 6 years anyway...I do know that I'm going to send an email to every single newspaper (yes, including the metro and Herald AM) radio ...

I dont mean to rain on the parade here but it seems the best thing for you lot "waiting" still is that you get no response.
All responses processed now will be negative unfortunately.
As was my husband's today.

I think this is the best idea and I know there are a number of Irish friends of mine who would also join in and support us as they feel this is really turning into an abuse of human rights. Unfortunately though, if you stage this on a Tuesday, I will not be able to attend as I really cannot take a d...

joesoap101 - He did not apply because he was told to apply for this EU 1 visa instead, not by me or by friends or by random people but by the DOJ directly.

jack_in_the box if you are about to apply for a 7th work permit you must have breached immigration rules at some stage because most people in your position would be well on their way to obtaining Irish citizenship. The option was also open to you to apply for Long Term Residency after 5 years remov...

No, the EU1 application is for non-EU spouses of EU citizens who are resident in Ireland (or wish to move to Ireland) for the purposes of work, and who were previously legally resident together in another EU country (Irish interpretation). The D-Spouse visa application is the procedure used by a no...

As for no-one "telling your husband", I think you'll find this is the case with all immigration rules. The onus is on you to find out the information. You can find details about LTR at http://www.justice.ie/80256E01003A21A5/vWeb/flJUSQ5YUK7K-en/$File/Permission.pdf http://www.emigrantadvice.ie/EA%2...

Babsie: Long term residency is definitely something your husband needs to look into, as one of the rights of LTR is that you dont require Work Permits anymore and can work for any employer. I don't know enough about Work Permits to comment on that route. Again, do check out about the D-Spouse visa ...

NO I'm sorry, our of principle I will not do this. I'm EU, EU members can freely move within the EU and work in any of the member states. So why does the DOJ think that I should apply for this long term residency? So they can no doubt get some more money out of us? I'm here 0ver 10 years, regularly ...

Babsie : I guess for your situation, you personally can continue to live her on the basis of your citizenship of an EU country, but as for your spouse :( How is he currently legally residing here? I realise this isn't the solution you are looking for, but can he get an extention of his current work...
