Absolutely. I was in a similar situation, the US visa in my original passport was still valid, but still have both nationalities since I don't have to surrender my original one.
So I applied to ESTA, and entered the US twice with my new British passport since then with no problem at all.

Yeah, maybe there was a problem with the photocopy NCS made, and it's not quite legible.
Or you can call UKBA and ask them, since it's regarding a letter they sent to you, they will probably give you an answer.

But anyway, send your passport ASAP.

Exactly. Once you're British, your civil status is irrelevant for obtaining a passport.

ILR is in this case granted automatically, you don't need to apply. Of course there will be no way to prove it (i.e. to an employer) if you don't apply and get a stamp in you passport or something like that, but it's enough to be able to apply for citizenship.

Don't know if I'm telling BS, but is it possible to leave the US to Mexico or Canada after 3 months, spend a couple of days, and then come back and spend 3 more months?

I'm not expert in the US Visa process, but I've been through the process three times already. I believe she will have no issues, she should show her passport with a valid UK visa in it, the tenancy agreement, P60's-payslips, and bank and credit card statements. Since she'll be travelling with you, i...

I think you should call the council ASAP and explain the situation. Then they can hold off your application until you're back in the UK. If UKBA receive your application while you're abroad, they most likely will reject it. Regarding the absences in the UK, well, I suggest you worry about that in du...

Congrats AlexS. Please how did the DX talk to things up? Also, where did you have the interview? The interview was at the London Victoria office. Well, DX said they tried to deliver on 26/6 (not sure about this, there was only a short window of time when nobody was at home), but instead of leaving ...

Wow, my interview (two weeks ago) took 3 minutes. He asked my name (spell it), date of birth, address, name of my mother, her date of birth, date of my citizenship ceremony, and that was it. He probably spend more time explaining how the interview was going to be and why they do it, than doing the r...

You can go on holidays as long as you're present in the UK when your application reaches UKBA. That's why they ask you to tell if you're planning to go away in the next 5 days.

[RANT] Passport delivery

Sorry, this is just a bit of a rant. I attended the passport interview on Saturday 23rd of June, and according to the timelines here, I estimated that my passport will be delivered Tuesday 26th or Wednesday 27th. Nothing happened, so on Thursday 28th I enquired to IPS through the form. On Friday aft...

Re: Updates

Well, the update is, there are no updates. Whenever I call, I am being told, the supporting documents are under examination. Why does it always take so much time? Weird, I sent my application on 31/5 via C&S as well, and I've had the interview last Saturday, and I'm now waiting for my passport to b...

Mine took almost 1:30hs, from the moment I entered the council until I left (that includes checking everyone's documentation), but I think it depends on each council. It's ok as long as you're wife is in the UK when UKBA receives the application, that's why they ask you to tell them if you're travel...

Absolutely. You're now a British citizen, and if I'm not wrong, you're no longer an Indian citizen (as you had to give up Indian citizenship).

So, do apply to ESTA. I will do the same next week when I get my British passport, since I intend to travel to the USA in July.

hi Ryanm56, That's very similar to my case, I was a non-EEA national, and the 5 year residence sticker in my passport had expired (thought the passport was still valid). In her case, she had PR since 2010, and since it's not compulsory to apply for PR (it's automatic), she's eligible to apply for ci...

EEA2 for a "tourist"

I'm asking on behalf of someone else, this person entered the UK as a tourist (she is not a visa national), with her EEA national husband. The husband is working full time, but her 6 months are coming to an end. Can she apply for EEA2 residence? I couldn't find anything about needing a family permit...

...and if you do have an ILR stamp in your original passport. Since it's not mandatory, many of us don't have an ILR stamp, so the only way to prove we're British when we're entering back to the UK is with a British passport.

I called IPS yesterday, the nice gentleman who answered didn't even ask me how long it was since I applied, found my data in the system, and told me my application went through initial checks (and they were OK), and told me I would probably receive a letter next week. I had no reference number yet, ...

Hi eeaman, I was in a similar case to your wife, I travel quite a lot (but not enough to be near the limit), and since I used the Iris system to enter back, I had almost no UK stamp in my passport. But I did have entry and exit stamps for other countries, so I took the job of making a list of all th...

Unless you need to keep your documents, in my opinion there's no big advantage of using the NCS. NCS will not tell you if your referees are valid, beyond (maybe) checking that one of them has a British passport. So if you're careful (and looks like you are if you successfully applied for ILR), I thi...

I agree with you king_kong. I also applied on 31/5 through C&S, and I don't think it's worth it. The PO agent only checked that the data in the form was the same as the data in the passport and certificate. I had already done that, and I could have sent it myself via special delivery and I would hav...
