When your certificate got posted to any of you who have already got your citizenship, did you get a tracking number for the delivery so you knew roughly when it would be arriving?
It may be different now, but when I got mine In 2018, I had no warning. No email that i was a citizen either.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My Dad's Irish passport was dispatched on 2/28. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get to the U.S. after that? My recollection is that it took about a week (I got mine in October 2018) following the appearance of the "Dispatched" status . Dublin sent the passport to the San Francisco con...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

One question - I received my passport but not any of my supporting documents (birth certificate, FBR certificate). I need my FBR certificate to prove the date of my citizenship for the UK govt. How long did it take for everyone else's docs to come back? Your profile flag suggests you are in the U.S...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi, I got told my FBR application had finally been approved a few weeks ago (17th Jan) and that I will be added to the FBR register. They told me there is a delay on printing certificates - I contacted them today and was told there is still a delay. Does anyone know if it is possible to apply for a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Strongly debating whether to apply for the Irish passport now online or wait until I've actually received the certificate. Not sure if I can do it without the certificate anyway just yet. You cannot. You have to send the original FBR certificate with your passport documentation. Just as with the FB...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Here is a unique question (I think). Has anyone applied for FBR, and provided documentation that their sibling has already registered - such as providing their FBR number or a copy of their certificate? I've had my FBR 18 months ago, and my brother recently decided to apply. The idea is that maybe t...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

In my case: "Under the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act 1956, if a child who is not an Irish citizen is adopted by an Irish citizen or a couple where either spouse is an Irish citizen, then the adopted child shall be an Irish citizen". Further down on that web page it says: "If an Irish citize...

How is the certificate sent to USA addresses? Is a signature required for receipt?
Mine was delivered in July 2018 by the U.S. Postal Service and a signature was required.

Confirmation of application received and 6 month deadline e-mail 4 June 2019
I would not consider it a deadline. It is an estimate. It all depends on their backlog, how many new applications they are getting and the complexity of checking your application.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

For those of us who have not submitted applications yet, would the simplest path be to use a notary to witness all of the documents (passport, photos and application form)? (USA) Yes. But it may depend on how well you know the notary and the state where you live. According to the DFA requirements, ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Update regarding same witness: Contacted FBR via phone and they confirmed that the witness has to be the same person, and even with notary public certifying the passport, its still not accepted as the notary is not that same witness on the application documents. This is also now stated on the DFA w...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I read on another board that the same witness must be used on all the documents (passport copy, photos, application form itself) for the FBR application package - does anyone know if that is true? YES! Same witness. -For the photographs he/she can just use a business card if he/she doesn't have a s...

Re: Can I stay with my wife at Dublin airport immigration?

Absolutely. My non-EU wife and I flew into Dublin in October. When we got to immigration, they told me that I could accompany her in the non-EU line. It is optional. But since you would like to accompany her, you can.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Does anyone know if it’s faster/worth a trip to the consulate in NYC, or if mailing it in works just as well? I doubt personal delivery would make it any faster than overnight mail. It takes several weeks to process. I got my passport about a year ago. From what I understand, the consulate does som...

No, not the witness part at all! 1st set was too blurry 2nd - 4th set were wrong size. I am sure this gives comfort to other applicants that there isn't some new set of standards. It sounds like her photographer was a lot (maybe all) of the problem. I followed the consulate instructions as I consid...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration
