Re: We won our appeal - how long will our visa last for? Fiance or marriage visa?

Thank you for the reply. We provided proof of our marriage during the appeal itself and the judge noted this in his verdict. When my wife sends her passport off to receive the vignette (she has just this week been requested to do this) - shall we enclose a covering letter explaining her new marital ...

We won our appeal - how long will our visa last for? Fiance or marriage visa?

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can help with this query. When you win an appeal - how long will the visa you are granted last for? Is it 2.5 years as standard? My wife applied for a fiance settlement visa, and after being initially refused, we won our appeal. While we were waiting for the appeal to ...

Re: Bank statements for flr(m)

Yeah, the date is the most important thing. I know some people have asked questions such as 'do you need the bank to print the statements out themselves and stamp / certify them?' Personally we just printed the statements out ourselves via the Bank's online portal - and that was acceptable. For some...

Re: Return of spouse visa documents

We paid as part of the application process via VFS global.

Might be that it's not available from Pakistan though. But we had the option in Japan, at any rate.

Re: Return of spouse visa documents

If you posted them the documents and included a self-addressed & stamped envelope they will return the documents to you when they have finished scanning them themselves. It took about 3 weeks in our case - although we paid for the priority service. Not sure about a scanning location in London - that...

Re: Confused about the spouse visa application

No, you should only need to send one set of documents.

But I would advise scanning everything and keeping records of them in a Google Drive folder so you can refer back to them in the future if you need them again.

Re: ACCESS UK and Spouse Visa submission

The trouble is they keep changing the rules - I'm not even sure if the government still uses the term Access UK - as this just seems to be the slogan for the area of the .gov website that deals with Visa applications. They said it was supposed to replace visa4uk - but apparently 'visa4uk' is coming ...

Re: Confused about the spouse visa application

She needs to submit the application in her country. The documents from you (ie. the 'supporting documents' such as salary etc.) need to be submitted separately by you once she has made the initial application online / submitted her biometric data at her local Visa Application Centre (she will get de...

Re: Spouse Visa Financial Requirement Calculation After Salary Increases

I think the 1-day super priority service is only available for people applying *within* the UK.

We applied outside the UK using the 'normal' priority service and it took about 6 weeks for us. So yeah, 1 - 2 months is a correct estimate.

Re: Visa4UK OR Appendix FM

As far as I understand it, Visa4UK is the system used to apply. Ie. the online application portal.

Appendix FM are the *rules* used by the government to assess your application.

They're two separate things.

Re: Year Salary in One Month's Pay Slip

I imagine most people would advise waiting until you have been with the company long enough to submit the correct number of payslips.

I know it's frustrating to wait, but it's just not worth risking the chance of refusal by submitting less.

Re: Procedure after winning appeal?

Thank you very much for the reply! Very helpful information. Another thing I'm wondering about - we initially applied for the fiance settlement visa, which lasts 6 months (which you then upgrade once in the UK). But we got married in her country while waiting for the appeal to happen, so now it's in...

Re: Spouse visa rejected based on financial requirement

My wife was in a very similar situation to you - and we used my father's income as third-party support. Our application was initially refused because of the exact same reasons as yours (they basically said we didn't meet the exceptional circumstances). We appealed (the hearing was in April), and two...

Procedure after winning appeal?

To complete this process we require you t...

Re: Settlement visa processing time: 8 months??

I'd advise it takes around 6 weeks for the priority service, and 12 weeks for the non-priority service. You do need to send all your sponsor documents to Sheffield, but that can be done after submitting biometrics - just don't take too long to do it. And I know it's probably not what people want to ...

Deeds of the house if they legally own it (or letter from landlord / rental agreement) Architectural floorplan of the house sh...

Most important thing is by far and away the marriage certificate itself. Photos and everything else is just an added extra.

Make sure you get the marriage certificate translated into English by one of the approved translators listed by UK Gov.

Re: Still waiting for a decision.....

I agree, I think a phone call is better - more immediate response, and the staff can potentially tell you more. When I hadn't had a response in two weeks, I called, let them know my situation, and the very next day I got a confirmation email - a coincidence maybe, but at least it felt like I'd had s...

Re: Please I need help please

If you call the UKVI phone number and speak to the staff there and tell them the situation, they will make a note on your file with the new info. Yes, it sucks that you have to pay to do so, but better to give them all the information available and keep them in the loop.

Or use a scanner + printer - that's what we did anyway. Scanning helped too as me and my fiance (who were in diff. countries at the time) could both upload documents independently and co-ordinate them all into a shared Google Drive.

Even if you don't meet the financial requirements, you still need to be able to show *some* means of being able to support your dependents. Ie. do you have any savings (even if they're less than £16,000), or a stable, reliable incomes from relatives? Are you living with relatives? Do your dependents...

Yup, basically - if you quit your PhD then your Tier 4 visa becomes invalid - hence why it's arguably in your interest to stay on the course if at all possible, as it gives you more options/time in the UK to marry.

Re: Tier 4 to Dependent visa

If at all possible I'd use the time available to you on the current Visa to marry in the UK - not only will it allow you to marry more easily in the UK, but also means you won't have to pay for *both* the fiance Visa and then the upgrade to the spouse Visa.
