Re: UKM application from Canada

Simd, When I received a reply from the "Further Inquiries" mailbox, it took me a couple emails to discover there was a form attached to the standard replies that I needed to complete and return. Check any correspondence from them for attachments. I wish I could help more. This process is difficult, ...

Re: Is this enough evidence for UK Citizenship Application?

Unfortunately, I don't know for sure about proof of residency, as I didn't go through the Naturalisation process. That being said, I think Tax documents and and Pay slips are some of the more important pieces of evidence. I have read on here some people take each piece of evidence and write down wha...

Re: Is this enough evidence for UK Citizenship Application?

Bump! My newest post got merged with an older post. Bummer. Hopefully someone will comment on my newest question. Thanks. :) Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you have to provide evidence that you were in the country on that day. The requirement to have been present in the UK ...

Re: Citizenship or Right of Abode Info (UKM)

I'm not sure what impact being born in a commonwealth country would have on your wife's situation. If you are willing, I'm sure there are a lot of cases in the "UKM Timeline" thread that may be similar. Re: Citizenship or Right of Abode Info (UKM)

Currently, the guidance for UKM applications does contain wording that reflects the outcome of the Romein case. "https://www.supremecourt.uk/cases/uksc-2016-0165.html" . The basic premise being that specific rights were afforded to men that weren't afforded to women. This included the ability to reg...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Congratulations, Jeda!! Still no update on my end, even no response from my email. Still trying to wait patiently, though. Good to see you made it! All the best. I'm not sure if you've tried this, but have you contacted the consulate where your ceremony will be held? Usually it's the closest consul...

Re: UKM citizenship question, am I eligible via this category?

It sounds like it may be a really difficult question to answer. British Nationality law is extremely complex. In my case, my mother's application for registration was denied (she chose not to pursue reconsideration) and mine was approved. Someone on here may be able to better answer your question, b...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Thank you luthersnowak and Ballet. Yesterday, I got a postal letter and all my documents returned -- with a rejection because I had not completed my biometrics. This, even though I dutifully asked each office (as well as the US consulate) how to get them. Never got any reply on what to do. If you r...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

You may need to reapply given the length of time that has elapsed. I would go directly to your nearest visa office to enrol biometrics when they are called for rather than waste time trying to make an appointment. Hi all -- I too am confused about my UKM application. I am a US citizen born to a Sco...

Hi, Am not sure if this is the place to ask but am hoping you can help. I am an Australian with a Scottish mother and am currently filling out form UKM online. I have 2 referees organised but am not sure what I need to get them to fill out to send as documentation. I have found the form used in the...

Was a fairly quick process, Big group, you get called up one at a time to say the oath. Then a pledge all together. I have now applied for my passport. Docs arrived yesterday. Congratulations!! I've been keeping an eye on your posts, hoping things finally worked out you. I'm glad to see they did. M...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

This is the worst thing about the application, isn’t it? Constantly checking emails and waiting... waiting... waiting... So from my point of view you have already received what I am desperately waiting for (approval) but obviously the waiting isn’t over then. So the invitation to the ceremony will ...

Thank you! Atlanta is trying to help and has even initiated an email to try to get my sisters transferred from NY to Atlanta. That is the email my sister and Atlanta have sent the requests to. Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Has anyone living in the US requested their ceremony in the UK? My sister and I were thinking we’d like to have it with our family there. I don't know for sure. I was able to request that I attend the Ceremony in Boston rather than San Francisco. I would think it would be possible. You should get a...

Could someone refresh my memory but for those of us in the USA the average wait time between acceptance and ceremony is about 8 weeks? Does that sound about right?
That's about right. My Approval was dated around Nov. 19th. I didn't hear about a ceremony until late January, so about 6-8 weeks.

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

So it looks like every applicant lately has been getting done in the 3-4 month timeline I previously asserted. The luthernowak experience of 6 months to approval was an exceptional one, as an early Romein applicant . I agree. Aside from being based on the Romein decision, my case wasn't particularl...
