In addition to what guy said. I have a friend who has dual nationality, and while coming into the country with his overseas passport, he had an ILE stamp put in his passport after he porved that he was a British citizen. I guess that was more appropriate than giving him an ILR stamp, since he is a B...

Epiphany is right. Don't worry about that. U have to fill in the passport number in section 3 and send it with your application. Then they will return it to you seperately without any alterations. This is just to check your existing passport.

Hi Joseph
I got a congratulating letter saying that I can apply for a passport using the enclosed application form, and a guidance to dual nationality holders. Nothing about registering to vote.

My friend....going back to do A levels sound very strange. If you thought that u messed up during your A level days, why didnt u make up for it at uni? What did u get in your degree? When u apply for a job, they will look at your university qualification more than your A levels.

The Oath is mandatory if you don't come from one of the countries where the queen is head of state, such as Canada. I am not sure about the language test.

I didn't have to take the test becaue of my qualifications, and I had to take the oath infront of a lawer because i had applied before the citizenship ceremony came into fo...

Hi Perish you have a very good case because when you left for that year you had the intention to come back and you will not be qualified as 'Disembarked'. If every thing else is alright with your application, I don't think that this will be a reason to refuse your application. Again, no one can guar...

Hi Dude Some of the question I might not be able to answer as I was not put in the situation myself. When I applied I was in my second year of PhD myself, and I carried on as an overseas student. I was lucky to have the money and I managed to get some help from my department. You have to know that e...

I have been through the process (10 yr student) and what Kay said is spot on. The process for me took 11 months, but since the HO started charging astronomical fees, I heard things got quicker. Each case is judge on its merits, so no one will give u a defenate answer on how long it will take. good l...

Try saying that to the officer dealing with my case. I called her to enquire about how long it will take and she nearly bit my head off for calling without having an urgent matter. I think i remember the case when it took around 30-40 days. That is a one off I guess.

Naturalisation waiting time

Hi I applied for naturalisation about 16 months ago. At the beginning of March this year I received a letter telling me that they had just started processing my application and are making character enquiries. Does any one know how long it takes for this process to be completed and me getting a decis...

Just a suggestion

In addition, I find that the "General UK Work permit" part of the UK forum gives the impression that it is just for work permit related posts. While people are using it for other posts like citizenship and ILR by other means than work permit. I suggest changing the name to "General UK Immigration" o...
