Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I just wondered whether anyone else has a similar history and has found a way around this situation. My Irish grandfather's birth was never registered. Mine was a much easier situation than yours though as I found a record of his baptism in Ireland. With your grandmother having been baptised in Shr...

Okay, I've gone back through the last several pages of this thread and updated my copy of the spreadsheet with the available information from after 26 Oct 2022.
That's a heroic effort - thanks!

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Re. the Google docs spreadsheet: this was nothing to do with @Sulla. It was created by @SLwlss who hasn't been logged in since June. Here's his last forum post, in which he rectified a problem with the spreadsheet's settings, to enable it to be shared. I'm not able to, but if anyone else would like ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I scoured this forum looking for anyone who has had this issue; hoping someone sees this and can respond. If anyone can put my mind at ease about the officialness (not sure if that's a word) of the certified copy, that would be wonderful. The answer is as Mr Knight says above, but this regularly co...

Re: Certified Copies of Ceritificates

The term "certified copy" means a certified copy of an entry in the births, deaths or marriage register. 'Certified copies' are just the bits of paper the authorities give you when you order a birth, death or marriage certificate - i.e they are official copies of whatever's written in the big book. ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

You're misunderstanding I think, applications are expedited for the parent of the expected child. If the parent is not on the FBR when the child is born the children aren't entitled to Irish citizenship, thus they will expedite the parent's addition to FBR prior to the birth of the child. Which is ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My maternal grandmother was born in Ireland. My mother was born in England. I would like to get an Irish passport but I was not born in Ireland so not sure how I go about it as the FBR requests FBR for my mother which doesn't seem right as she would have been an Irish Citizen automatically. Any hel...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks for the reply. The copy I did send was a paid for certified copy of my original, hence why I am confused as to why they are now asking for the original. I've sent a pdf photo of my old original to check if they are happy for me to send it. Either way, I best get looking for the original and ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello, Jan 27 2020 applicant here (when documents were received) After almost 2.5 years of no contact, I finally got some sort of news today- that they are processing my application- however, my birth certificate "is not the original". I sent a copy of my birth cert as my original is quite old and ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

There was/is an online spreadsheet somewhere that was very useful to track timelines. It’s possibly not being updated anymore, does anyone know what the link to it is? Yes - that spreadsheet is potentially a great resource for FBR applicants, but it's only as good as the information that people ent...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Some people will feel better to be doing something active like complaining during the process. It certainly made me happier to know that various people in the DFA had to take time away from reading the newspaper and chatting by the coffee machine to write me what amounted to a sorry letter. Call me...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

You all have my sympathies that you are having to endure such an elongated process. I don't have that much patience. Best of luck to you all. Welcome back Sulla! Me and you went through the FBR process in 2019 and both our applications were processed speedily as we were ahead of the main Brexit rus...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks for the input! We submitted all of these documents. Upon looking at the letter, it seems the discrepancy is that the baptismal certificate does not have the birthday on it. We don't know his exact birthday. Did your baptismal certificate have one on it? Are we out of luck without this inform...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

However, we just got a response back saying that they can't create a birth certificate without a, well, birth certificate. Is there something I'm missing? Are we out of luck? Any help or guidance would be appreciated, as we spent a year trying to get this together and are flabbergasted. Yes, I had ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

...I am just curious as to what the complex process is the FBR team go through when they start working on an application that it takes so long. Does anyone know? Do they actually have to somehow cross check every document you have provided back to its source to ensure it is genuine? Similar questio...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

If it's an urgent case they do expedite it if they have good reason. For example if a child were to be rendered stateless if they didn't have their FBR. I sympathise with you. Maybe you could message the urgent enquiries email (which is somewhere on this thread, sorry I don't remember it) and see i...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

You are so lucky that FBR only took less than a month to deal with your pregnancy acceleration. And my pregnancy acceleration has not passed yet From reading your previous posts I thought the FBR team had told you that your application was not successful & you would not be added to the FBR. Yes - I...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone, I just signed up to ask a question, what is the opinion about sending in documents now? I applied back in March and held off sending them as I thought I'd be in the queue. Better to wait or send them in as there must be people there to accept the docs? Given that the advice is still no...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It would provide clarity if there's anyone still on the forum who has gone all the way though the FBR process and can comment on ID expiry Although this wasn't an issue for me during my application, I remember seeing this issue raised several times on this forum back then. These led to responses fr...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello everyone, I'm ready to give up. The waiting time is too painful. I once planned to join the Irish army after obtaining Irish nationality. Now I have waited too long. I can only learn French. I will join the army in France next year and then naturalize in France I think that's a sensible decis...

I took your list and had some fun (for me) and put it all in a spreadsheet, please let me know if anyone wants anything added but feel free to check add your own dates as they come through. Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Each of you has your father's birth address on your birth certificate. I don't understand why your birth certificate has your father's occupation It's an interesting question, but it's not going to help you resolve the refusal of your FBR application. Someone at the DFA seems to have decided that t...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Today, I encountered a problem. I'll tell you that my father's birth certificate only has the names of my grandparents and does not show the birth date of my grandparents. FBR said: there is insufficient evidence and failed to pass the application for the time being. I would like to ask ~ is there ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

For the record I would like to apologise to everyone for how I carried on before. I was really stupid, worrying about my job in Luxembourg and not being able to live in my cottage in Brittany. Ever since I owned it I have never spent more than 90 days there so it is not a huge issue. As for working...
