Re: New citizenship form UKF

Just wanted to post my final timeline after having received my passport today :) Ignore the delay between the ceremony and the passport application. I only had a chance to apply for the passport in the new year and had no immediate plans to travel. Just wanted to say thanks to this forum. A lot of g...

Re: Passport Application From USA: Which courier delivers the Passport in the US?

Hello I am just curious about how a passport is mailed/delivered to a US address after an approved application? (USPS, FEDEX, UPS, ETC...) I have a US PO Box and I would rather have a passport mailed there instead of directly to my home but the PO BOX only accepts mailings and deliveries from the P...

Overseas passport application: question re. courier service

Hi all, I'm in the process of applying for my first adult British passport after attaining citizenship through form UKF. Regarding the courier service, do HMPO provide the waybill/tracking number after approval or does the courier usually just show up at the specified address? If so, assuming commun...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Nice. Odd question here.. what size envelope did your documents come back in? They have sent mine to my PO box but just concerned it won't fit in the box - and you know how useless our postal service is.. I provided an A4 bubble wrap return envelope with my UKM application. As mentioned I suddenly ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Congratulations! How did the ceremony go ? How long was it ? Several other people also doing the same ? It was good. Was about 1 hour 30 minutes. They served tea and coffee with scones afterwards. Nice British touch. They also gave advice regarding passport applications. Yeah they were about 20 odd...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Try NationalitySupportTeamFMT@homeoffice.gov.uk . My case worker sent me the Royal Mail tracking number with the approval email. Maybe send an email to the above and ask them how they sent your documents back. This 'approval email' thing is another one of those things that seems inconsistent - some...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

OK so the lawyer certified copy of my passport is now on its way to Liverpool via FedEx. Another $90 spent. And I guess back to waiting. $90 is excessive...sorry you had to do that. Cost me 400 odd Rand (roughly 28 USD) to send all my docs via DHL to Liverpool from South Africa. Seems a steal. Anyw...

How and who do you contact to get a tracking number for your return documents?
Try NationalitySupportTeamFMT@homeoffice.gov.uk .

My case worker sent me the Royal Mail tracking number with the approval email. Maybe send an email to the above and ask them how they sent your documents back.

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

As I mentioned before in an earlier thread the return of original irreplaceable documents seems to be a huge problem and stress and problem to many applicants. I am very worried that I will ever get back my documents. I'm just hoping and praying I do receive it... eventually  . My docs were p...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

So there you have it folks: from passport application submission to it being dispatched to me has taken just over a week. I'll probably receive it from DHL either tomorrow (Saturday) or Monday. Cheers! I wasn't expecting it back this soon, especially with no warning it was coming. Went to check the post and got a package with all my documents and the letter of success. I'm desperately curious about how long until I'll be invited to the ceremony as I've only heard from one other person who...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

A person automatically British by descent doesn't lose SA citizenship, i.e. a person born to a BC parent who is British otherwise than by descent. Any voluntary act (which is what my letter states) of registration/naturalisation causes the loss of SA citizenship as far as I understand it. I remembe...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Yeah so I didn't know about this Retention of Citizenship thing till I read it in my ceremony invite today. I've reading up about it and it seems that you only need the RoC certificate if you're acquiring a foreign citizenship by naturalisation (i.e. from abroad), not if you acquiring by other mean...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

That is correct. This in fact happened to a friend that moved to New Zealand. He got his NZ citizenship but when he tried to renew his SA passport he was told he lost his SA citizenship. As you say he will still be able to get his SA citizenship back again. It's just a bit of a pain and unnesisary....

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Yes, I had to get a "retention of SA citizenship" permission letter from Home Affairs. I first had to get a letter from the Consulate General before I applied at Home Affairs. If you don't then you run the risk of loosing your SA citizenship. You will still always have the right to permanent reside...
