Re: Old passport with ILR stamp left at home when returning to UK

Albeit I was an EU citizen (naturalised in Sept18) I entered the UK pre FOM rights etc and had an ILR stamp in my passport from the mid 1970's. I applied to the UKVI in 2016 and was refused citizenship, after intially thinking the HO were right in their refusal I decided to research some more and th...

Re: Refused BC - Pre Action Protocol

Excellent news! Well done! The Caseworkers are not infallible and your husbands case is proof, as I think was mine (I did not apply as an EEA citizen exercising rights but as a holder of ILR) and others with an old ILR stamp in a passport who have been refused on spurious grounds or just because of ...

Re: Private Ceremony

Hi lizzy b I can understand your predicament, it seems to be cutting things very fine. The Local Authority must be aware of the time constraints and the implications of a failure to carry out the ceremony by the due date and I do not think that the date offered is entirely fair. Going over the 90 da...

Re: Message from HMPassport - Please help! URGENT

Hi,
I applied back in September for a UK passport following my Citizenship Certificate receipt and had a similar message. HMPO did not contact me for any further information and the next message was to say the courier would be delivering the passport in the next few days.

Re: British Passport Nightmare

Hi, your predicament seems strange as many people undergo name changes and often have old passports in a different name. So just a quick question, when your partner's name was changed was it done officially? On the UKVI website they do talk of changing a name on an existing passport (I know that is ...

Re: Professional referee - Trade Union rep

I’ve looked to see what the 1992 Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act says and it is not clear to me what the answer to your question is. However ACAS have a guide and in that guide at page 3 it has a section Terminology. It would appear from this para that ACAS clarify ‘trade union officer’ as a pa...

Re: Private Ceremony

I paid for and attended a private ceremony. Carried out by a deputy Registrar in an office, no other officials. Actual ceremony over and done in under 15mins or so. It was rather perfunctory albeit nice enough, no photographer. Costs for a wedding ceremony in the same venue under £50, which obviousl...

Re: why I voted for brexit

17 Million People voted to leave the EU,it was a democratic election and the result is final... It is a strange argument to say a vote "is final" in any democracy. Surely a democracy is one in which the electorate are not denied a vote. Brexiters just seem to employ the claim it is anti-democratic ...

Statement of Changes to Immigration Rules

I looked for something on this already on the Boards but could not find it. There is quite a lot in it, which will need some careful examination but the acceptance of copies of documents and changes to sending photographs seem to be included. Also discretion for caseworkers to contact applicants. ht...

Re: Four and a Half Months and still waiting

Hi, it seems the Home Office, particularly where Citizenship applications are concerned are relatively, if not completely, unaccountable. The service provided for the fees received is often abysmal but who really cares? If you are applying for citizenship it is highly likely that Ministers and MP’s ...

Re: Questions regarding the Application for naturalisation as a British citizen form

Hi, First question is do you have a Permanent Residence Card ((PRC)? If so when was it issued? As an EU/EEA citizen you will be required to have a PRC, after exercising Treaty Rights for five years plus one year and meeting certain criteria, as a precursor to applying for UK citizenship, unless you ...

Just re-read your original post. I think that nothing is certain with the Home Office and the time scale for granting citizenship. If an application takes a long time, for whatever reason, and things go pear shape it could be that if you became a UK citizenship post Brexit (a bad or no deal one) it ...

Re: German National about to apply for UK citizenship

Hi Ania, as alterhase58 said the times quoted by the Home Office is a standard answer. I applied for citizenship on 10/07/18 and received a letter of approval dated 31/08/18 on 07/09/18, I organised a private ceremony and completed everything on 12/09/18. So just over two calender months. The folowi...

When you have identified your MP you have 3 main options for contacting him/her. 1 Email 2 Letter 3 Surgery The first two are similar and likely, depending on the MP’s office set up, to be dealt with not always by the MP directly but their staff. In any case when you write you have to get your point...

Re: Received Ceremony Invitation but no approval letter?

Your experience is enough to make one weep or laugh. The Home Office would appear to have heaped incompetence on incompetence. Not to have responded quickly to the emails and phone calls is unforgivable, particularly when they must realise they are playing with peoples lives. What you did in the end...
