Re: Foreign Birth Registration

On another note: mine's a grandparent application- don't know if anyone has noticed any differences between parental/grandparent application timelines or not? FBR is only for grandparents/great-grandparents (if applicable) applications -- anyone with a parent born in Ireland is automatically a citi...

"The estimated* issue date for your Passport is: 20/03/2019."
Sean, any update on your passport? My estimated date was 15/3 and as of today it's printing, so only a few days later than they claimed. Hopefully yours isn't far behind!

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

How strict are they regarding certificates? I unfortunately don't have any genuine 'originals', i.e. from decades ago. The death certificate of my grandparent is a 'certified copy', and the certificates I have arriving in the post regarding my parent are from gro.gov.uk, which I assume won't be an ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I submitted my application to the NY consulate as well, but by mail. It was received 12/31. They contacted my witness last Tuesday so I'm hoping mine is on its way to Dublin and shows up in the tracking system soon. I'll keep everyone updated when it does. I'm curious to see if it's any faster if y...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Passport Update: I submitted the passport application in person at the New York consulate. They took my FBR and birth certificate and made copies and handed the originals back to me, and then they told me it would be about 8 weeks to receive the passport. I have the tracking number but I am not in ...

I had read previous regarding the photos being a different size required for an Irish passport could someone please advise?
Photo sizes are different for the US and Ireland. I believe Ireland and the UK require the same size photos so you shouldn't have a problem with that.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Hi all, I'm in the process of applying for FBR but have one stumbling block. The whole witness thing? I don't know anyone in those professions personally. Am I right in assuming you can't ask your doctor or a lawyer to sign it unless they know you personally or know someone who does know you person...

Re: What size passport photo for FBR application?

I think the ones I sent with my application were US size pictures. However, if you get them done at at CVS before they print them they can change the country to Ireland and print you the right size ones that meet their guide lines. Other places might do this too but I'm not sure. Yes to simply signi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

anyone had any recent updates? My application was sent at the beginning of July. A quick call to the FBR registry office in Dublin the other day informed me that my application was sent to Dublin for final decision on the 9th November (I applied to the London Embassy originally). Any ideas how long...

Re: FBR applicants: What further info did the DFA request of you?

My birth certificate doesn’t have the current address of my parents. That was over 30 years ago and they’ve moved since then. It has the address of where my parents were living the day I was born. Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I was referring to the address of where they were living when I was born! ...

Re: FBR applicants: What further info did the DFA request of you?

Yes, the birth certificates I originally provided didn't have the age and current address of my parents or my moms parents on them. I had to request new birth certificates and state that my intended use of them was for dual citizenship so they could send me the ones with that information on them. As...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I sent off my two new birth certificates this morning. After receiving them yesterday, it's amazing how much more info they put on it when it's for the purpose of dual citizenship. Dublin should receive them next week (sent directly to the employee processing my application) and I'm hoping that will...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Yes, my mom is still living. I found out what my error was -- I did not specify that my use for the birth certificates was for obtaining dual citizenship (I already had my own at the time). Apparently they issue you a slightly different certificate for that. The one I did order included my moms date...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Woke up to an email from DFA. Apparently mine and my mom's birth certificates are the abbreviated version. I'm confused because in the US these are considered the long form birth certificates. For those of you from the US, did your birth certificate and your parent's certificate list address of fath...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I was just hoping to hear news of being in “final stages”. My documents were received 7/12 and sent for the second stage of processing on 9/27 so yours should be there any day if it isn't already. They indicated that it could take 10-12 weeks. I'm hoping for my paperwork back sometime in November b...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Hi all, I've been following this thread for a while and decided to post my own update. Upon returning from my most recent trip in May, I began gathering all of the necessary documents...
