Re: Signing a photo on the referee form

The referee's do not have to sign the back of the photo. Just write your name and dob on the back and glue it onto the space. The referee's are confirming that they know you from the photo. If it happens to come off whilst with the HO then they can see who the photo actually belongs to. That's the ...

Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)

Can someone please advise. Anyone know if or used a Head Librarian as a professional referee for Naturalisation application? They work for the council. I know it is not on the official list but it does not list every single profession allowed otherwise it would be too long. I did ring the passport ...

Re: Travelling outside UK while waiting for ILR

According to the above, I cannot travel until the ILR application is processed, however it is not clear whether I can travel if the current tier 2 visa is still valid. Until your ILR application is approved, your tier 2 visa is still valid until expiry date. However it states quite clearly you ...

Re: Difference in referee requirements between naturalisation and Passport.

For some reason a Driving Instructor is not on the list for acceptable passport countersignatories but is on the list for Naturalisation.

I suppose the lists are not a definite guide.

Re: Naturalisation - Section 6(1) or 6(2)

Both give the same end result, British otherwise than by descent. And both can be passed on to children born abroad. Thanks, I got confused with the holding IRL for 12 months or over. It seems that if your spouse is a British citizen then the Naturalisation application is always considered and made ...

Difference in referee requirements between naturalisation and Passport.

It seems to me that referee requirements are more strict for Naturalisation applications.
Is that the case or are they exactly the same.

I've read reports of people using a librarian as a countersignatory for their passports but can't remember if that was their first passport or when renewing.

Naturalisation - Section 6(1) or 6(2)

Just wondering when applying for Naturalisation what section are we applying under. Both examples are after obtaining ILR through the spouse visa route. If someone has held ILR for over 12 months then is the application made under the 5 years residence and their approval would be under section 6(1 ...

Anyone know if you are required to show document proof of your maiden/birth name, before it is printed on the Naturalisation certificate? Or do they take your word for it?

My name on the marriage certificate is listed as my married name, that's how it was done for me.

What's the haste to beat Brexit anyway?

If you are from a non EU country then nothing will change and if you are here from a member EU country then as you are already here, you can carry on living here.

No as you are unable to apply for a UK visitor visa while in the USA as a visitor. What is your source of this? The immigration rules (paragraph 28) say otherwise: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-part-1-leave-to-enter-or-stay-in-the-uk This entry clearance guidance ...

No longer possible with the new service.
Yeah, it's a shame. Hopefully they might introduce it later when everything is settled with the new service.

Can still book an appointment with the new service instead of the council and keep your passport and BRP card?

Maybe not polite, but how do you expect anyone to answer if you do not give the pass grade for the certificate.

Was it a pass level qualification at level B1 or higher?
