As you mentioned earlier, I could apply for citizenship once I have my PR - could I then apply for it online without sending in my passport or even better with the express service so I could the passport back in time.

How long could it take before the PR card is issued?

I understand that I could always request my passport to be sent back during the process?

Exactly. That’s my actual concern. With the postal service, it could take months before I receive my passport back and I will have extensive travel plans in the coming months.
