For ILR application going through Tier 2 GEN route do i need to show absence history and letter from employer for all 5 years ?

one quick question, my Indian passport is due to expire in Nov 2020 and ILR eligibility is in March 2020, do I need to have my passport extended before going for ILR application? If yes then how earliest can I renew my Indian passport before it expires?
