Apologies if this has been asked before. Does a UK applicant have to apply via the London Embassy or can one send the application to Dublin? Thanks There isn't a choice for the UK and for England, it is via the London Embassy (I think for Scottish applicants the paperwork gets sent to Edinburgh) . ...

I sent the photocopies that were certified with my application but the DFA also wanted the form that you fill in (before you get to the counter), which the Post Office stamp. Depending on which part of the UK your father was born will determine where you need to go to for the certificates. Ha! I have a feeling my grandmother was also less than truthful with my grandfather about her age. Some records make it appear she was a year older than him. But her birth record, Irish census records, and steamship passenger records show that she was almost four years older than him. Even her grave...

Yes, I also used a priest to witness the application and the Post Office certification service for the passport copy @ £10.50. I checked with the DFA before I applied and they said that would be acceptable.
