Irish citizen and UK citizenship

Hi all, My father is an Irish passport holder, and he has asked me about the possibility of applying for a UK passport on the basis of his mother being born in Ireland in 1906, pre. Republic. They moved abroad in 1907, and she was no longer living in Ireland at the time of the establishment of the I...

Re: Naturalisation application processing timelines (only)

After years of debating whether to apply for citizenship or not I finally went through with it, as it allays any fears about the uncertain future for us EU citizens here in the UK, as well as it provides me with some benefits in my line of work. Application submitted: Naturalisation Eligibility cri...

Re: Experiences using new UKVCAS for naturalisation/citizenship applications

You should complain to the official UKVCAS email and also to HO. I agree, the whole system feels like a fiasco. Most people who applied in November and used the UKVCAS system have not received their approval yet. A lot of people who applied under the old system seem to have received their approval....

Re: Experiences using new UKVCAS for naturalisation/citizenship applications

An update... just got a phone call from the Home Office. They wanted to know several things, first if I have a second passport and if I have proof that I was here and gainfully employed between 2013-2015. I was shocked, as the passports were the first thing that were scanned at my UKVCAS appointment...

Could you please let me know which number you used to get the information about the submission of your documents?

Re: Experiences using new UKVCAS for naturalisation/citizenship applications

I was also concerned about the lack of communication once one's documents are uploaded/verified at the UKVCAS appointment. Someone here stated that you don't get any confirmation, which is true. I was so paranoid that I called them on the number in my appointment (not that absurdly priced-per-minute...

Thanks for the responses.

For the amount you pay - you'd think there would be some confirmation. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Applied for naturalisation - no letter, no acknowledgement?

Hi all, Perhaps my reading comprehension is fading - so I figured I'd ask here :-) On 21/11 I applied for naturalised citizenship and on 26/11 I had my appt at the London UKVCAS lounge, where they scanned my docs. SInce then - I've not heard anything. No email, no letters via post - nothing. I assum...
