My surrender certificate was full of errors. Except for the name, all the other details were someone else's. I had no choice but to correct it as I think this peice of paper is an important document and will save you any future hassles if you get it corrected now.

You have to apply for a visa in India for your child. Since he is British by birth he should have a visa during departure from India. Regional FRRO will be able to provide with more info. This is wrong. Surrender certificate along with the cancelled passport will be returned. Atlast that was the case until a month ago. I got the passport back with the corners cut.

If they have made a spelling mistake in your fathers surname on the surrender certificate, would it matter too much while applying for the OCI?
