Ceremony - do you need to memorize the affirmation ?

Hi everyone, I'm having my ceremony soon and in the instruction they say I will have to repeat the oath/affirmation.

Will I be allowed to bring a paper to read it out, or will I have to learn it by heart? I know someone there will read it out but concerned that I may not repeat precisely.

Re: **** COVID19 Biometrics appointments and UKVCAS ***** (Discuss here ONLY)

Got my approval email this morning. Applied on 13/9 and submitted documents on 20/9, so roughly 6-7 weeks. Seems like it's the general timeline for quite a few people here. My case is pretty straightforward though - when I applied for ILR the decision came through the next morning. Submission was d...

Re: **** COVID19 Biometrics appointments and UKVCAS ***** (Discuss here ONLY)

Have just got the email regarding IDV app this morning (I applied on 13/9). All done and submitted. Thank you @Cullinan for your detailed instructions :) The process has been smooth so far. The IDV app is definitely the right direction and saved me from having to take half a day off treking to Croyd...

Hi all, I've just submitted my application and now registered on the Sopra Steria website. It looks like there is no appointment available and instead I should wait for the IDV app. Some silly questions... 1) Do I need to click any link to register for the IDV "queue"? So far all I have done is crea...

Do I have to present the physical referee paper

Hi gurus, I'm completing the application form and just have a few questions below: 1. One of my referees printed out the referee form, scanned and sent back to me via email because we could not meet each other physically (they reside in the UK, but are currently abroad due to their mother having hea...

Bump. Does anyone have experience of using a referee who is not UK resident. Is it permissable?

Thanks,

Re: Question about Naturalisation application

Thank you CR001 for the prompt reply.

I'm struggling to find someone of "professional standing" who has known me for 3 years. Few of my friends here are professional and those who are haven't known me for that long. Does that person need to live in the UK?

Question about Naturalisation application

Hi gurus, I obtained ILR last year under the 5 year Tier 2 route. I'm now filling in the naturalisation form and have some questions below: 1) Do both referees have to know me for at least 3 years? Some websites suggest that, but the instruction on my online form only says that Referee 1 (the Britis...

Can I travel while applying for naturalisation

Hi gurus, I am eligible to apply for naturalisation in April, however will have to go abroad in July for a wedding (just 3 days). My questions are: 1) Can I travel while applying for naturalisation? Changes of circumstances after ILR

Hi everyone,

I'm just wondering if I still have to inform HO after receiving ILR? Specifically I changed employer recently and may move house in the future.

Thank you!

Re: HELP PLEASE! No absence letter from previous employer

Hi, just wanted to update the outcome. My previous employer ended up sending me copies of my "holiday statements" and timesheets, which listed all my annual leave. My colleague was in the same boat and did not even submit any letter or evidence from his previous employer to confirm he worked there. ...

Can my mother use the NHS?

Hi all, My mother is very stressed lately due to loneliness (she raised me on her own and I'm an only child), so I want to invite her to live with me for 6 months. But I'm worried that her asthma may act up when she is here and we can't afford private healthcare. Her travel insurance won't cover exi...

What to do with the old Tier 2 BRP after getting ILR

Hi guys, at application centre they did not take my Tier 2 BRP card. I now had ILR, what should I do with the Tier 2 card now. Do I have to send it back to home office somehow?

Hi guys, I got ILR (5 year Tier 2 route) recently and now am planning to change job. I will apply for citizenship next year.

Question: is there any document I should request from my current employer before leaving?
