Hi all I got a rejection email today, and I says. "You were asked to provide information pertaining to any criminal convictions or cautions in your application. This was also your opportunity to submit information in support of your good character. However, it is noted that you did not declare the ...

it would be in my maidan name while all of my life here in the UK is in my new surname after marriage, this must create a havoc. Does anyone know how long I have until I request the review? It doesn’t say in the email.

Can I review after a year or 2?

Re: Application has been rejected

A decent solicitor once told me that the Good Character is only a guideline/policy and not a law, hence in his opinion it could be argued with HO. Not sure how achievable that is, but I may need to go back to him. Having said that, I have seen many cases granted with Criminal Record that is even mor...

Re: Application has been rejected

Just to add that I have also treated myself from Gambling which was the reason for all of problem and the 2 offences that I have done, I lost my own money and did the above, yet I paid it back, treated myself, volunteered and become good with business, not sure what I could do more. If anyone think ...

Re: Application has been rejected

Your first conviction was for fraud. This is taken very seriously by government departments. What is the second conviction for? theft from employer, but what I want to highlight here is that both offences where identical, CPS choose to give them different charges You have two custodial convictions ...

Re: Application has been rejected

You had two very long sentences in the last 10 years, it sounds like you already made up your mind, but I would say you have better chances in 2027 when it's been 10 years, and even then it may be still held by the caseworker that the balance of probability leans towards you reoffending. If you do ...

Re: Naturalisation refused

It is tough to be fair and I agree with the comments about regarding your covering letter, I would imagine you have needed a lot stronger one in place and a stronger case put together. I would for sure consult with an immigration solicitor on the next step. I wish you all the very best. Will you kin...

Re: Unsuccessful application due to conviction

Agreed with the above. As per the old policy for the good character, an imprisonment sentence of less than 12 months is spent after 10 years from the end of the sentence.

Re: Good Character Refusal

I agree with contorted_svy. Although it is a clean cut as per the case worker, it says to Feb 2014 so to Feb 2024 is 10 years, if you are to apply before I would say do it next month.

You can apply for enhanced DBS check or SAR from the ACRO, this is the Police computer records which will show you everything on it too, link https://www.acro.police.uk/s/acro-services/subject-access Would that include the length of the sentence, as opposed to the length of time served? The SAR fro...

Re: Unsuccessful application due to conviction

The new rule don't mention 10 year, do they. They seem straightforward as below: Overview Having a criminal record does not necessarily mean that an application will be refused. However, a person who has not shown respect for, or is not prepared to abide by, the law is unlikely to be considered of g...

You were convicted on 31 March 2009 at .... Crown Court. ... Problem is I have been convicted at that date exactly but for 6 months.
