Re: 2022 Naturalisation Application response

Does this mean that if your application gets rejected at initial stage you’re waiting > 6 months for a denial? Or if you get rejected do they send it immediately?

Re: Continuous Residence in Year Preceding?

First of all, I’m an Irish citizen. So telling me to leave if unhappy is quite a daft response to asking a valid question. Especially with people who’s parents/families live across the world and going away for 20-21 days a time is valid. I wanted to see if it was absolutely strict or whether there w...

Continuous Residence in Year Preceding?

Hi everyone, my husband has completed his required days of residency as the spouse of an Irish citizen, however in the last year he has left the country > 42 days. Even if he meets his days (+42+ additional days), can he still not apply until he’s at a point in time where he hasn’t left the country ...

Congratulations! That’s great news!

Was this the application you sent in?

Yup! We actually sent the old one first but then they sent our application back and we sent it again with this one.

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

Did it say specifically he had “permission to remain in the state under stamp 4 conditions” Or did it say “permission to remain in the state”. The latter is what it said on our letter when we got our confirmation letter along with our original documents back. By the way they return your original do...

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

Congratulations! I’m not too sure about the process of getting it. If you don’t mind me asking - what did it say in the letter that you received from SOIN? When myself and my husband applied over 8 months ago the only thing the letter said was the he had permission to remain in the state but said n...

Hi all! My husband received his temporary stamp 4 today, after about a month of the application going in! Does anyone know what a temporary stamp 4 is? I don’t really understand

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

My wife (who's non-EU) came into the country on a work visa after we got married in her home country. Two days after she arrived we went to the immigration officier to regisiter her for Stamp 4. Typically she would have got Stamp 1 instead, but we made use of the loop-hole whereby if you're the spo...

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

Hey out of interest what date did this person submit their application that got their letter after 9 months? I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was last year? It was definitely within the last couple of years anyway. You should be able to look it up on here, it was a lady whose husband was an asylum...

Yep, he should get his 1G, but I don't think you'll have to wait that long anyway. Keep me updated, and all the very best!! I feel like we're all on the same team with this stuff :D

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

Also, sorry for the question again - I don't get why they wouldn't renew his stay - if he was on a Stamp 2, isn't he just automatically allowed a stamp 1G for 2 years immediately after? (assuming he did a Masters) When I went to GNIB the second time around, I specifically asked them if the applicati...

Oh, by the way, I read someone on here got their SOIN application done in 9 months and her husband wasn't here legally. So I guess yours shouldn't be too long!

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

Hiya. Yes he was here legally - in fact he is from the US so he doesn’t even need a visa. I’d also be cautious about your spouse getting a two year stamp 2. Whenever my husband’s stamp was up in October and we went back to GNIB they refused to renew it because of our pending SOIN application. I thi...

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

@Thehungrysoldier I am in a similar situation waiting for my spouse of an Irish national application to be processed. I’ve had my application submitted since the end of June 2018 and I’ve still not heard anything back other than a letter with my reference number and original documentation. Three im...

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

Hi guys, just to update, we went to GNIB this morning. Met the guy at query counter, who said that the person had written some notes who had originally rejected us, and said that since my husband came in on a stamp 2, and then we got married, it looks like he intentionally deceived the immigration p...

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

So - I got my residency updated to a stamp 4. I took a ticket from reception for the queries desk and waited approximately an hour and a half for my number to be called. Explained my situation, was escalated to a manager. They gave me an appointment on the spot, went back to the same cranky old lad...

I'm here right now. Definitely don't come later! The query counter is only open from 10am until 1pm and no one will help you after that. They hand out tickets for the query counter at 9am and its counter 23.
Hi! Any good news?

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

Any updates? I'm in the same boat as well but I'm a non-visa required national here on a visa! If you did go - what counter did you go to, and did you talk to reception first? I'm going back tomorrow morning and I'm a bit nervous. We are going to GNIB tonight - only thing is we don't have an appoin...

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

Well either that immigration officer is hugely misinformed or he had a personal issue with you guys! It's written on their website that except short stay C visas if the non-EU national is legal in the country they have to issue the Stamp 4 on the spot. I would go there again with the print out of t...

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

That sounds very strange! The Stamp 4 should've been issued when you met the immigration officer, I guess you are right - you were the unlucky ones that day. I would challenge their decision, if you go to their offices in Dublin and request to meet with a manager at counter 15 (sometimes counter 14...

Re: Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

Hi all, My husband is a visa-required national on a student visa (Stamp 2). We got married in October 2018 after a 5 year long distance relationship, and presented to GNIB in November for his Stamp 4, and the man said we had to write to the department and refused it. I emailed the SOIN department, ...

Yes - he was and still is on a stamp 2. The immigration officer said if we want to change his status he has to write in. I emailed the SOIN department and they said because of your reference to a “long distance relationship” then we need to send one in. I guess we just got unlucky.
