Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It looks like the timescales are improving a bit for FBR; maybe 11 months instead of 12 months. Despite my application being received at the London Embassy in mid-January 2019, I am still working on a worst case assumption of 12 months from receipt in Balbriggan late February 2019. That way, any new...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I am hoping for Scottish independence, I would love to have a Scottish passport too!! I hear there might be another referendum because of Brexit and most of the Scottish voted to stay in the EU, your thoughts? A second Scottish 'IndyRef' is pretty much guaranteed after Brexit. It's an inevitable ou...

Does anyone have a phone number or email address that they know to be patrolled please, so that I might enquire as to progress?

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I never received confirmation of receipt from the London Embassy to the best of my recollection. but I sent it via recorded post so I know they got it the day after I sent it off, i.e. 9th October 2019. I have added you in as an October 2018 applicant. Is the general consensus that the 6-12 months ...

Please help me out by telling me your received dates if you do not already appear. Sulla, thanks for compiling this. My timeline as follows: 15th Jan 2019 - Signed for at London Embassy 25th Feb 2019 - "Your application has now been received" email (received at Balbriggan, presumably) I'm uncertain...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Further to my previous post, you may be able to get urgent assistance from the British Embassy in Dublin:
If you’re not a British citizen but think you may be eligible, contact us to apply for an emergency travel document

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

For the background info: -My granny was born in Ireland, is currently an irish citizen. -My dad was born in England, is currently an irish citizen. -I was born in America. Based on this, one potential resolution is British citizenship. Depending on dates/circumstances, you are likely already a Brit...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My application was received by London Embassy mid-Jan 2019 and transferred to / received by Balbriggan in mid-Feb 2019. I understand 6 months is now an unlikely timeframe which, for me personally, is no issue. If my application is straightforward, it will probably (hopefully) be November or December...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Hi everyone, Thanks for all of the advise so far! I have a very simple question - the application form I printed has space for 2 photos. I have photos, which have been signed on the back by a witness. Did you stick the photos to the form or just attach with a paper clip? If signed on the back Im no...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Did you stick the photos to the form or just attach with a paper clip? If signed on the back Im not sure how they can see that if I stick them to the paper ... I used a paperclip to attach the 2 photos, and did the same for my solicitor friend's business card as it was double-sided. After I had sub...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Would also be interested to hear how anyone in the UK received their FBR certificate and originals in the post. Although, thinking about it, my mother-in-law recently received her FBR so I could just ask her! For anyone else interested, my mother-in-law still had the envelope which she received her...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Emlyn, I submitted my application by hand, but in Beijing not London. That's the only way you can do it in China. I had to contact the embassy and make an appointment to see a consular official. The documents were then checked in front of me and ticked off on a list. That was a reassuring aspect - ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Hello all. The posts in this thread have been very informative, so thanks for that. I now have everything together for the FBR application and ready to submit to the Irish Embassy in London. First question: Has anyone hand-delivered their application to the embassy? If so, what is the process? Is th...
