Congratulations on the birth of your baby. I recall getting told by the garda when I went to register (outside Dublin) as the spouse of an Irish national that he wanted to be informed of any children we had, so as to add it to my record. I'm not sure what difference it makes to them, but maybe if yo...

Re: Irish Government unfair to Spouse of Irish National

Why would non-EU Spouse of EU has free movement within EU countries and non-EU Spouse of Irish has not? Why would non-EU Spouse of EU be given 5 yrs residency and non-EU Spouse of Irish has only 1 yr or less.? Why would non-EU Spouse of EU has indefinite stay after 5 yrs of marriage and non-EU Spou...

I got a 5 year stamp 4 based on having an irish husband last year, so I hope the procedure is the same throughout all GNIB offices. You don't have to pay for registration either, so that's €150 you can keep. When registering, the garda was making some mention of bringing what irish spouses got int...

Take all the docs with you again. She should be given stamp 4 for a year. Just on this, I was given a 5 year stamp 4, as th...

I think that working holiday visa deal with the US requires the person to be a recent university graduate. I've worked with someone who had come in under the scheme and before they applied they asked me what I needed to provide to show I was a recent college graduate. Couldn't help them with that on...

Just a thought, if someone is applying to be naturalised based on being married to an irish citizen, but also had 4 Irish born great grandparents, would it be worth mentioning/documenting this in an application? Just was wondering whether it would help at all, or whether its one of those great unkno...

Thanks a mill for quick reply Ben. And last question.. Since she is going to stay 90 days. Do i need to go to GNIB and get her registered? My mum-in-law ( Non visa required national) visited few years back in 07 and was given 1 month stamp and was told to register with GNIB if she want to stay long...

Interestingly enough, when I went in to register as the spouse of an irish national, the guard (registered at a garda station as I live outside the GNIB areas) said that they are giving out 5 year stamp 4s as opposed to 1 year due to the Metock ruling. While this ruling was specific to the spouses o...

Yeah, no paperwork is required as long as you keep your status up to date. The garda was only interested in passports and the marriage certificate. An incredibly easy process. BTW the garda mentioned that they are giving 5 year stamps (he was looking at a piece of paper on his board) to irish spouse...

Not long been through the process myself. Got around 4 years as the spouse of an irish national (as my passport expires in 2014). Not a difficult process at all in comparison to other countries, basically just involves showing up at the GNIB (or appropriate garda station) with a marriage certificate...

I knew someone who applied for one a week or so after it came out. Theirs took a couple of months to come through (but then the Irish embassy in New York knew nothing of it!!!). Could be different now though it's been going half a year.

I went through the Eu queue with my irish fiancee at Heathrow in December. We did actually ask an official before we queued up too. Think it might depend on the mood of the officer at the time. A nice guard let me through the EU queue at Dublin airport that same day (non-Eu line stretched out the do...

Last time I flew ryanair (just over a month ago now), I had to line up with those who had checked baggage. Took about 25 minutes to be seen. Again, they weren't sure my passport allowed me into the UK without a visa.

I've been asked to fill out an entry form twice to Ireland. Once coming in from Prague, and the other from Philidelphia. Just basic questions really. Have flown in countless time otherwise and never had these.

Re: Working Holiday visa

Do you know if you can change your status in Ireland if you're here on this visa? I would be doing this so my partner and I will have a stronger EU1 application with 2 years on a lease together. Our application would be borderline which doesn't comfort me when dealing with Irish immigration. We'd l...

Of all the people I know who have emailed the department of justice (I think it's 3), not one has got a response.

I'd once sent of an email but didn't receive a response from them. Luckily the information I wanted was put up on their website a month or two later.

Sponsoring foreign husband (to be) into New Zealand

I'm a born and bred New Zealander. Nothing confirmed at all at this stage, but I was wondering are there any other kiwis out there who have been through the process of sponsoring their foreign partners for permanent residency. We've been living together for well over a year (seemingly this matters) ...

They'll only check to see if you either do not require or hold the appropriate visa for your destination. Hopefully it should be straightforward enough fo you. I recall when the registration officials came to my door I had to call them back to say that I did want to enrol to vote. did the same to my kiwi next door neighbour.

I had a few shopping bags ie. butchers meat, gardening stuff, so can't have looked much like a tourist.
