Yep as mentioned above - you can freely travel after attending the UKVCAS appointment for ILR application. They only need to look at and scan your passport documents, you can keep them and use to travel immediately after. After you receive the ILR status, you then have to wait for 1 year before you ...

Suggest you re-schedule your British citizenship ceremony date to a later time when you have no travel commitments. This is the safest and most sensible option.

Thank you both! I called the passport office on Wed last week (30 Oct) and got the call / message today that it's been approved and will arrive in the next few days.. All good in time for my trip, very happy! :D

As someone who travels, make sure you were physically in the UK on the date exactly 5 years before the day you hit the submit button on your application. Example, if you submit on January 31st 2019, you must have been in the UK on January 31st 2014.
