Re: Complex Query: Redeclaration

Just to clarify regarding the date of your qualifying period: Did you leave the UK on 3/4/2015 or were you already abroad? If you flew out on 3/4/15 then there is no problem as the home office does not regard the day of you leaving as being out of the country (as you were physically present for part...

Re: Revoking British citizen due to lack of CSI

You only need CSI if were not working so if you had been working for 5 years before applying this does not apply to you. Even if you did not have CSI it is extremely unlikely that citizenship would be revoked as you would have to have acted deceitfully in order for this to happen which you have not....

Re: Do I qualify for applying for British citizenship due to the new updates?

I would agree with your interpretation. There also is a paragraph in the guidance of exercising discretion so I think if you apply after September you should be fine but obviously this is uncharted territory so far.

You are probably fine and dont need to worry about it. If you want to make 100% sure you can use the letter. I would not withdraw the application based on this.

Re: HELP- Studying abroad- can I still get a citizenship?

You are in a slight grey area but should be fine as I guess you could argue that you are still "living" in the UK, just spending time abroad temporarily studying. I would recommend that you DO NOT interact with the home office or passport office from abroad. I assume all letters will go to your pare...

Re: Statutory Requirements / Digital Photos Code

Can I use "ue" instead in the application, as I did ever since I entered the UK? As pointed out above you should stick with the original spelling if at all possible at all points. If you can not do this as the form will not allow then go with ue instead. I would also include a cover letter explaini...

Re: Tell us where you live

I do not think so. I think you need to give them your home address and they will always attempt the first delivery there. Once this has failed you can then go to the website and get it delivered to your work (I had it done that way). I looked into this at the time and could not find a way of getting...

Re: Professional referee - please help me out

Teacher is on the list of approved professions so should be fine. There are differing views on if they can be retired including on this forum so if you want to make 100% then try and find a professional that is still working but if you can not then I think it would be reasonable to give it a go with...

Re: Life in the UK and English language tests done AFTER naturalisation application

The website is quite clear that you have to pass LiTUK test and full-fill the language requirements at the time of application. Your only option is to complete these ASAP and send them to the home office via mail. As above, the Sopra Steria website remains open but nothing gets send on to the home o...

Re: Job out of UK after submitting application for citizenship

It depends on what you mean by "will have a job". I believe it is a requirement for citizenship that you are intend to remain in the UK in the foreseeable future. If you take a job abroad you would be in breach of this requirement. You can not get the correspondence sent abroad and you will need to ...

Re: Travelling abroad immediately after citizenship ceremony

If you look into the passport thread in this forum you will get a sense of times. It appears to be 10-14 days in total. The current passport and certificate are returned in separate mail but usually the day before or the day after your passport arrives. I think you need to send them the passport you...

Re: Travelling abroad immediately after citizenship ceremony

You should be able to get a passport in two weeks. If you are organised and send off all paperwork on the day or the ceremony you should be safe.

Otherwise you have to wait to apply until you return as you need to send your certificate and current passport.

Re: Counter-signatory on digital photos?

yes, 1 referee is needed. They get an email to confirm once you have submitted your application. There is no way you can safe and pause the application so you can not apply prior to your ceremony as you need the certificate number. If you are in a true rush, then ensure you have a suitable photo whi...

The LitUK test is good forever. Many people do it for their ILR so many years before they apply for citizenship.

Re: Can I still apply for citizenship if I was away for 15 months after receving permanent residence? Please help

This is the relevant section from the handbook. You may want to see if any of the exceptions apply to you: Where an applicant has spent more than the 450 day for section 6(1) applications, or 270 days for section 6(2) applications, outside of the UK during the qualifying period you must consider exe...

Re: Can you use photo-me booth for first UK passport?

You can also use a photo you take yourself with your mobile phone and upload it from your computer. Just have a look at the guide, it needs good light, and the usual no smile etc.
The website runs a check to make sure its fine to use.

It may be helpful if you post what year he was born and what year you were born, however my reading of the law is that because he is a British Citizen by decent he can not pass this on to you (https://www.gov.uk/apply-citizenship-british-parent/born-before-1983). Look at the website and see where there are appointments.

I went to Croyden to a free appointment at around 7pm which was great as there were no queues.

Re: Lost Life in the UK test results - only photo copy

If you apply through Sopra Steria you only upload a scanned copy so they would not be able to tell the difference. You can always write to them later IF they request the original but so far I have not seen a single post on this forum with the HO requesting to see originals of anything scanned at Sop...
