Just applying for my Irish passport now after finally being accepted onto the FBR.
Am I reading this correctly? Do I need to send my full UK passport along with my application or just a certified copy? As long as I have it back within 3 months that's fine but I just wanted to check!
I also just received my congrats email! Here are my dates: 15/03/2019 - FBR sent with docs 20/03/2019 - Email from Dublin acknowledging receipt of docs 10/01/2020 - Confirmation of address email 06/02/2020 - Congratulations email, saying certificate has been printed and posted Strongly debating whet...
If it helps, I don't have any bills to pay (with the way I pay my rent), so my proof of address was just a bank statement, mobile phone statement and a student loan statement. That was fine .
Happy Friday to me! Just received the email asking for my confirmation of address. For those wondering, my application was sent on 15th March straight to Dublin, and I received confirmation of receipt on 20th March. So around 10 months for me. I assume the next stage is just to await the certificat...

Hi, I applied February 2019 and received the receipt email shortly after. Today I have received an email saying my application is insufficient (see below). ‘Unfortunately we cannot proceed with the application without the following documentation: 1. The Original Full Birth Certificate of your fathe...
They have reached March 2019. Handed to London Embassy: 15/02/2019 Email confirming it arrived in Dublin: 15/03/2019 Email confirming address for certificate: 25/11/2019 Entered into FBR: Waiting Certificates arrived: Waiting Very exciting! Mine went straight to Dublin and they received it 5 days a...
This is amazing. Mine was received in March (sent from the UK) and I'd resigned myself to it being mid next year or so given the backlog. Seeing people who sent in February get emails and the like now, I'm feeling excited for the first time!
Yeah another application here from me as well for the list! Sent direct to Dublin from the UK on 15th March 2019, and I received email confirmation that they'd received it on 20th March 2019.
Just reading the Timelines thread and the template goes like this: What is the difference between 'application received on' and 'acknowledgement'? I had an email confirming they'd received my application on 20th March, so obviously that is the former. But what is the 'acknowledgement' stage? I thin...

It's no wonder theres lengthy delays if on the applications print on section E it clearly states medical doctors can witness an application yet 8 months down the line people are told they can no longer witness, and are told to resubmit evidence. You would think they would change the forms to avoid ...
You're on a forum where people who've followed the application instructions to the letter are reporting increasingly lengthy processing times. If you've still heard nothing in 12 months time, imagine how you'll be feeling then. I'd imagine it would be similar to that holiday-ruining paranoia when y...
Spoke to somebody on the webchat, asking if my manager in a bank would suffice as 'Bank Manager' (seems obvious but I wasn't sure if they wanted an actual Branch Manager). The guy says that they don't accept a Bank Manager to witness the FBR document! In fairness, the link below backs up what he say...
Hello Everyone, I have been trying to get in contact to get an update with my application (its been almost six months so I'm more curious than worried). But the contact page of the FBR only lists webchat and Telephone. I can use the telephone since I live abroad, but the webchat requires me to inpu...
Does anyone have any indication as to how strict they are regarding witnesses? I'm struggling a little to find somebody appropriate. I work for a bank in the Digital department - could I ask my boss to witness my application? He's technically a manager in a bank, even if he's not a 'bank manager' of...
To clearify: your parents, the children of irish born citizens to NOT need to apply for the FBR. They skip that skep and go directy to the passport application process. Children of parents born in Ireland or northern Ireland are already citizens. Thanks mate, understood. My parent is not in the pro...
Second question from me. Probably many more to come.... On your timelines when you guys refer to the date your documents were received by X location, did you receive a notification or is it just a result of your tracked delivery telling you they had arrived? Mine is saying to deliver direct t...
How strict are they regarding certificates? I unfortunately don't have any genuine 'originals', i.e. from decades ago. The death certificate of my grandparent is a 'certified copy', and the certificates I have arriving in the post regarding my parent are from gro.gov.uk, which I assume won't be an ...
Hi all, hope you're well. Apologies in advance for this as I know you will have heard this before, but unfortunately I'm fully stressing out getting all of this documentation and I would rather not read through 62 pages of this thread :D. I'm applying via an Irish born grandparent (parent hasn't ye...
