This is interesting...so the insurance does not necessary need to cover both non-EEA and EEA for the period of time of self-sufficiency? I have read other posts saying that is does. Very conflicting and I guess depends on the caseworker.. The PPI plans that forum users has mentioned is definitely ac...

The A4 Sheet of paper with your RC is called an Immigration Status Document which is accepted by employers as proof you can work restriction free. Any HR person who advises otherwise can check directly with the HO to confirm. Yes, most Embassies (apart from Norway) will issue a Schengen Visa without...

Schengen Visas Exemptions to Spouses

Referring to the new regs of March 2009 where married spouses and children under the age of 21 or dependant of EU nationals are exempted from obtaining a Schengen visa to travel to the EEA if they hold: - a valid passport; - a valid UK residence permit issued by the Home Office with the endorsement ...

So long as you can show that you have exercised your treaty right for a continuous of 5 years, you dont need to send all those documents again. A letter from yout employer will suffice. The only area that could lead to being requested additional documents (to show proof of exercising a treaty right ...

You will need to apply for a shengen visa from the french embassy for your parents. You or rather your parents have been granted a shengen visa by Spain so it should not be a problem. Plus you have the tickets and hotel bookings (although not required under EU law at the application stage). I wouldn...

My husband and I got married aboard and for the purposes of a shengen visa, you need to get an apostille stamp. If you are in the UK, I did this by going to the Embassy for the country I was married in. This may not necessarily be the country either you ro your spouse hold citizenship for as was the...

Thanks Obie. Regarding the gaps in employment during the 5 year qualifying period - do we need to do anything to cover ourselves so to speak? I am thinking for these gaps, it is advisable to get comprehensive sickness cover and register with a job centre to provide evidence of seeking employment? If...

Thanks Obie for your reply. I did read this but it applied to the right of residence for the EEA national as opposed to the non-EEA national. Does this distinction have any bearings? From my research, there are two types of job seekers allowance, and that income based JSA would affect applications h...

Jobseekers Allowance - does it affects EEA4 application?

Hello, I am currently on an EEA 2 residence visa as the spouse of an EEA national (dual Irish and British) exercising a treaty right (category self employed) in the UK. For my future EEA4 permanent residence application, there would be some gaps in employment for my EEA spouse. The EEA4 application ...

EEA 4 application

Hello, I currently hold an EEA2 residence card as the spouse of a EEA National (Irish) who also holds British Citizenship. My EEA2 residence card was granted on the basis of my spouse falling into the 'self employed' category in terms of extercising a treaty right. Thinking ahead when applying for m...

Does your EEA spouse also hold British Citizenship? Or can qualify for British Citizenship by the time your 5th year of legal residence is completed? Is so, your can bypass applying for PR and apply directly for naturalisation as your EEA spouse would also hold British citizenship.

Thanks for the replies. From my understanding to sumarise.. - UK/National Route = spousal visa (out of country application), ILR then Naturalisation. Total time 3 years. - EU Route = EEA 2 residence card (5 years), PR (1 year) then naturalisation. Total time 6 years - EU Route where EEA spouse has b...

PR under EU law is automatically assumed upon 5 years of lawful residence and judging from current processing times, it seems quicker to naturalise straight away. I am hoping (but not holding my breath) that any future changes in the law relating to naturalisation, qualifying periods etc is not appl...

Naturalisation for Spouse of Dual EEA & British Citizens

My spouse is both an Irish and British Citizen. We were both granted our EEA residence cards in March 2008 by the Home Office. My EEA2 residence card expires in March 2013. As my spouse is a British Citizen, am I correct in thinking that I can apply for naturalisation as a British Citizen in March 2...
