Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

I applied on 29/06/2021, documents were received and status changed to "processing" on 12/07/2021 with passport issue date of 4/08/2021. I asked for an update on my application through the webchat today and was told that my documents have not even been scanned yet, 6 weeks since "processing" has be...

Re: Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

How did you contact web chat? I went to https://www.dfa.ie/passports/contact/, scrolled down to a "web chat" area and was refreshing the page regularly until a box with speech bubbles changed from "website agents are busy" to "available". Have your application number handy, you will need to enter i...

Re: First time passport application

Hi, can anyone advise if a stamp is required from a witness for online application Identity Verification Form? There seems to be no box for a stamp. I just find it unusual as paper application requires a stamp. Thanks I just went to Garda station today and he only filled out the parts he needed. Si...

Re: First time passport application

Gardai would know what to do. Regardless of whether it's a paper or online application, Gardai would always carry out the same checks and sign/stamp the application in the same way. I think they would place a stamp and put their name or Garda Number in that stamp - at least this was the case a coup...

Re: Affidavits for approved applications and next ceremony

It looks like it is happening. Can not find it yet on official inis site though: It is expected that 4,000 applicants currently waiting on naturalisation will have had an opportunity to gain citizenship by the end of March the Department of Justice said. "The process I am opening today means that ce...

Re: Affidavits for approved applications and next ceremony

Everyone has to check if the email addresses given in the application is correct so that we dont miss the email. Email address is not a very used information in the process so there is every chance that there would be lots of confusion or error from both sides :) fun Good point, since it was entere...

Re: Citizenship ceremonies on 3rd July 2020

Just received a reply to one of my emails to ISD asking for updates on the next ceremony. There is a slight difference in their usual copy-paste reply this time: "A review of the pilot is underway and consideration of that review is now in its final stages.", and "A decision on how to proceed is due...

Re: Citizenship ceremonies on 3rd July 2020

@ChristinaLeary Unfortunately I don't have a TD to go to (I live in Northern Ireland). I will be looking into relatively alternative ways of getting information like sending emails to Minister for Justice office, filing FOI etc. It is so unfair that they keep us in a position that we need to nearly ...

Re: Citizenship ceremonies on 3rd July 2020

I agree Christina. While the Department said it was only a pilot virtual ceremony, there was quite a bit of fanfare and media coverage of this. It would seem strange to hold off on rolling this out, particularly with virtual citizenship ceremonies rolled out in other countries like UK, US, Canada, ...

Maybe it is silly but I keep sending them emails asking about updates on the ceremony. Re: Citizenship ceremonies on 3rd July 2020

Hi guys, I paid the €950 fee for naturalization on 29th of January this year, but didn't get an invitation for a ceremony, and then got caught by the COVID-19 crysis. Is there anyone else in my situation? It's been 4.5 months since I sent the money and there's no real timeline of when/if I will att...

Re: Citizenship ceremonies on 3rd July 2020

The article you are referring to says that gatherings over 5000 people will not be allowed. If they keep the number below that we might have a smaller ceremony, or a ceremony without guests in July.

Re: Citizenship ceremonies on 3rd July 2020

Would be so much better (in terms of coping with uncertainty) if they posted citizenship certificate in the same way they do for children applications.Maybe for limited period until we are back to normal life.

Re: Preparation for Irish citizenship while resident in NI

Hi, unfortunately, it is not clear from inis website what is required for non-Eu applicant residing in NI. I had similar questions regarding residency checker, what to submit instead of copy of GNIB and Public Services Card. The reply was as below: "The residency checker is not applicable as you are...
