Re: Citizenship applications from 2017 pending approval

Now that the ruling has been overturned by COA, let's see how soon another date for the ceremony will be. Hopefully Jan, Feb. or March next year. This is good news for us all in the waiting. https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/courts/court-of-appeal-overturns-irish-citizenship-ruling-1.40...

Re: Court rules "continuous residence" means you CANNOT LEAVE IRELAND AT ALL for year before application

I kept emphasising that the deciding people's fate based on Dictionaries is “unworkable”, “overly literal”, “unduly rigid” and gives rise to an “absurdity” and now finally the court has also realised that. But still, there is no proper guideline regarding the 6 weeks absence rule, whether the minis...

Re: Court rules "continuous residence" means you CANNOT LEAVE IRELAND AT ALL for year before application

The Minister and the Appeal Court deserve credit for expediting this, as do the appeal judges for unanimously overturning the “unworkable”, “overly literal” and “unduly rigid” High Court ruling on the definition of continuous residence. It was unfortunate that that High Court ruling came just befor...

Re: Court rules "continuous residence" means you CANNOT LEAVE IRELAND AT ALL for year before application

I am really happy with this development. At least the issue of unbroken presence or residence has been overturned by COA. The Minister continues to enjoy the discretion for up to 6 weeks or more in exceptional cases. Now they have to the needful and set us all free. This is absolutely good news for ...

Re: Citizenship applications from 2017 pending approval

Hi guys, I called them this morning for an update on my case after over an hour have been trying to get to them over the phone. I was told that my application is in progress but has not gone to the Minister yet for final approval. I also asked is it possible for me to be part of this Sept. 30th cere...

Has anyone got approval letter for Sept. 30th ceremony?

Re: Citizenship applications from 2017 pending approval

I applied in April 2017 (5 years work permit), received the 2nd stage letter in April 2018 ... and have heard nothing from the citizenship office since then. I've contacted two TDs in July 2019, and received the same generic answer. It is somewhat frustrating when you have been waiting for over 25 ...

Re: Court rules "continuous residence" means you CANNOT LEAVE IRELAND AT ALL for year before application

My question is what about those of us who are not affected by the one year continuous or unbroken stay in Ireland? I mean the last one year before I made my application, I didn't travel out of the country for almost 2 years before submitting my application in Dec 2017. Does this mean I wont get appr...

Ceremony is only in sept. So normal wave of approvals should start around mid August.
Ok then fingers crossed. Thanks for the response.

Re: Citizenship applications from 2017 pending approval

Although they send approvals all year through but bulk of the approvals are sent 4-6 weeks prior to ceremony. That will take us to mid August. I don’t know if the court ruling on continuous residence will delay the proceedings because minister cannot overrode the judgement and will have to sort out...

Re: Citizenship applications from 2017 pending approval

I felt bad when I read the article yesterday. I believe it will be contested in Supreme Court as stated in the article. This is absolutely insane to hear that you wont be able to travel out of the country for a whole year prior to your application. Hope and believe this will be reverted back soon. F...

Re: Citizenship applications from 2017 pending approval

Anyone here who attended the June 25th ceremony in Waterford? From what I can see, only two people on this forum who applied in 2017 attended (but they applied earlier in the year than you did). It was mostly people from 2018 and a couple from 2019. I was there, as my wife (2018) got it. Anyone wit...
