It seems this government is intending to adopt all migrationwatch ideas. The main one being breaking the link between temporary status and settlement. I guess it will make student/high skilled migrants will think twice before coming to Uk. If they go somewhere else where that link is still in existe...

Sorry to hear about that. But in life you got to do your best and then be content with that. The only things you can control in life is your emotion response to situation. Sometimes you can't control what other people believe even your fiance and relatives. So you got to be pragmatic may be you woul...

Re: Is anyone sorry that they moved here?

The UK alone did not force you to be here in the first place...it was YOUR decision...not theirs. Well, supposing you go to a restaurant that advertises all-you-can-eat dinner for £20, then halfway thru your dinner they tell you the price has been increased to £30! The changing of goalposts and a...

Re: Is anyone sorry that they moved here?

Its like driving on the motorway... during one of those "phantom" traffic jams, you are not really certain which lane would end up fastest... You have the option of staying in your lane, or changing lanes... either way, the result of your outcome does not depend on where you have been, but on where...

Re: Is anyone sorry that they moved here?

The UK alone did not force you to be here in the first place...it was YOUR decision...not theirs. You are kind of forced to be here. You came in becasue you were promised in wrinting certain status. To prove your commitment you had to give up everything you had in your home country. Now you can't g...

Re: Is anyone sorry that they moved here?

True. no guarantees in life. Especially if you are a HSMP immigrant from a non-european country. The point is no amount of regret is gonna change the past, if anything will only increase one's stress level. The best way course of action IMHO will be to look to future and decide where to move on fro...

Re: Is anyone sorry that they moved here?

I'm starting to feel that way. Is this the only country that changes rules retrospectively? Well, there are no gurantees in life and the world is not fair. So the best things is not having regret but pat yourself in the back that you did give it the best shot and move on. Life itself is not gurante...

I second Rockhall advice. Go to IOM and they will help you. Even if you have no document they will help to sort that out. Plus they give you up to 3 month to do whatever you want do to put all your affairs in order.

I have to agree, as an advocate for rights of illegals to live as human beings, that the compariason with concentration camps, normally associated with Auschwitz and the like, is inappropriate. However, it remains the case that refused people are often treated with a degree of brutality, official a...

Dawie, comparing the real concentration camp to the immigration detention centre is belittling the suffering of the ones who were unfortunate to be in one. Will eventually be like the real concretration camp according to the first hand account of former inmate. Prisoners do get better treatment. ''...

I couldn't agree more and it would not help HSMP case. Better try and put his effort in organising a peaceful rally/march or something like that.
