Why are you even checking the status if you have attended your ceremony or have a British Passport?

Settled Status after Naturalization

Hello Everyone, A bit of a random one. I naturalized as a British citizen recently after having had settled status for 12+ months and even got my new British Passport. I was curious as to whether and how the HO update their records. I used the online system where you can view and prove your right to...

Which Passport to Use?

Hello Everyone, I recently naturalized as a British citizen and am now a holder of a British passport. I am a dual citizen and therefore, I now have two passports to travel with. I was hoping I can get the opinion of fellow dual nationals when it comes to international travel and which passport to u...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Finally the brown envelope came through today!

I received my ceremony invitation. Letter was dated 14/09!!

Managed to get a group ceremony booked for 01/10.

For reference my approval letter came on 28/05 so it seems like they are tying to clear the backlog by end of October!

Good luck everyone!

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

So I emailed the HO advising them it’s been 3 months since I’ve had my approval letter and my local council are currently doing ceremonies so would like to have my documents printed and sent out if possible. This is the response I got (the main part anyway): “If you have received confirmation that y...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Called the home office immigration help line today and asked about when ceremony invitation letter will be sent out. I told them I got my approval letter end of May so 3 months ago and still no invitation letter. They said if my approval letter is dated May, I should expect the invitation to arrive...

Re: Lack of NI contributions when self-employed

Ok I understand. That makes more sense now. Thanks for clarifying. So does that mean I need to provide P60s for each year? There are 1 or 2 years where I can’t find my P60s. Would I need to provide payslips for the entire year if a P60 can’t be supplied or would a few from different months be suffic...

Re: Lack of NI contributions when self-employed

I see. Thanks for this advice. I didn’t realize this would still be required even after having settled status which is of course based on 5+ Years residency. Sounds redundant having have to send p60s to prove residency when the Home Office has granted settled status as this is in theory proof of res...

Re: Lack of NI contributions when self-employed

Thanks. Companies house and HMRC never sent anything. I just spoke with companies house at the time on the phone and they said if no accounts are filed they’ll dissolve the company and that was the end of it really. The only proof will be bank statements and invoices I suppose. So I guess I will sen...

Re: Lack of NI contributions when self-employed

Thanks for the quick reply much appreciated! So do I just put “self employed” on my application for that period and leave it at that? Would I need to send company bank statements or invoices to prove the fact that no contributions were due? I didn’t claim any benefits in that period so my HMRC recor...

Lack of NI contributions when self-employed

Hi All - I have a question regarding lack of NI contributions when applying for naturalization. I’ve recently obtained settled status and am planning to apply for naturalization after 12 months. However reading through the application form it mentions sending proof of Ni contributions. Whilst I have...
