Depending on the individual circumstances, you probably only need to scan it through the EU APP ( https://www.gov.uk/guidance/using-the-e ... -check-app ). The settled status application states (for non EU applicants):

You’ll get your document back as soon as it has been scanned. This could be before you get your decision.

Does anybody have any experience of that? How long does it take to get the passports back in case of non EU?
