Re: Minor traveling alone to UK from India

Quick update on this matter, hoping it will be useful for people in similar situation. So, the minor booked ticket to the UK on Emirates with the option of unaccompanied minor. He was assisted to the check in counter by the Emirates staff, but did not get a green signal from Dubai to check in. Even ...

Re: OCI Appt

You can get lucky and find an appointment near by. However, you can only book another appointment when the existing one is cancelled. You cannot cancel it yourself. Instead, you have to mail HCI (email id on their appointments page). As per experience of many in this board it takes days to cancel or...

Re: OCI Card- Do we need to take new born for the appointment ?

There is no need to take children to vfs office to submit their application. Either parent can submit the application. To be on a safer side, carry an authorisation from your spouse authorising you to submit your child's application on her behalf. That should be good enough.

Re: OCI Appt

You can book appointment in any jurisdiction. Only point to note is that you fill the form for that jurisdiction. For example : if you are from London but have appointment available in Birmingham, in your application choose jurisdiction as Birmingham and not London even though you are resident of Lo...

Re: No surname in Indian passport - British passport

Hi, I have recently applied for a British passport. However there is an issue with what name will be printed on the British passport - as my Indian passport does not have a surname (and only a given name). Eg: Indian Passport states - Given Name :John Smith Surname : (blank) I have since spoken to ...

Re: Minor traveling alone to UK from India

Thanks for the reply. Regarding traveling alone when the visa has an endorsement of person to accompany, the UKVI site itself mentions "If you arrive in the UK without the person named in your visa, you’ll need to show that your parent or guardian consents to your travel and accommodation arrangemen...

Minor traveling alone to UK from India

Hi All I am asking this question on behalf of my friend. My friend is on ICT in the UK. She had applied for visitor visa for her son to travel to the UK who is 12 years old in April, 22 but got the visa only now. Whilst applying she had mentioned in the application that she would travel along with h...

Re: India tourist visa

You can submit your application outside your jurisdiction. Only care to take is that when you fill the application, choose the jurisdiction that you will submit to. E.g. If you live in Birmingham but want to submit application in London, choose your jurisdiction as London. Birmingham jursidiction ap...

Re: What happens if British passport application takes over 90 days (surrender q)?

Not sure where you got the 90 days timeline, but HCI london website does not mention that Indian Passport has to be surrendered within 90 days. Did you get this info from official website?

You should be fine. It's not enforced strictly. I submitted application for surrender of indian passport after 5 months of getting british passport. No questions asked.

Naturalisation or Registration for Minor born outside UK

Hi All I am a bit confused with the guidance AN which states "You can only apply to naturalise as a British citizen if you are an adult (aged 18 or over). Children under the age of 18 may be registered as a British citizen if they meet the relevant criteria." I want to apply for Citizenship for my d...

Re: Fine for Surrender of Indian Passport

There is no fine if passport is surrendered late. The grace period of 3 months is only for using indian passport on acquiring foreign nationality in lieu of foreign passport. Even in this case, govt has stopped issuing monetary penalty. You can submit application for surrendering Indian passport whe...

Re: OCI Original Docs

I have read posts where original documents asked at VFS varies from place to pl...

Re: Indian Passport - renew for change of address

It is rightly mentioned that the address that matters is the Indian (permanent) address. Even in India, you can have the address updated when it's due for renewal unless you apply for renewal to reflect the new address. This is applicable even if the passport is issued abroad. The HCI prints foreign...

Re: Surrender Indian Passport-Urgent Query- Appointment tomorrow 26th March 2022

Hi In my case, they took the Original Indian passport and Naturalisation Certificate which were returned after cancelling the Indian Passport along with the Surrender certificate in 4-5 days. They did scan my British Passport while accepting the application; so please carry your British Passport too.

Indian Mission different from place of submission of OCI appln

Is this allowed or the submission has to be with VFS offices in Birmingham jurisdiction? I remember earlier in HCI...

Re: Indian Passport Renewal

If you are in the UK, it's easier to get your passport sorted from UK than doing it from India. I would advice you to get your passport sorted from UK rather than getting it done from India when on a short visit; primarily because of the appointments, police verification etc.
