CSEP – what to do if my job falls somewhere between 2 categories on the Critical Skills Occupations List?

Greetings from Canada. I'm interested in moving to Dublin on a Critical Skills Employment Permit. I looked at the Critical Skills Occupations List and my job falls somewhere between the two categories below (242 and 354). Will it be hard to get approval for the visa if my job doesn't fit 100% in a s...

Re: URGENT - Second Tier 2 general visa application without joining employer

Congrats mate! This is a very sensitive situation though... I suggest that you consult with an immigration lawyer who will give you an answer on the spot based on your particular circumstances.

And here's a link to an old white paper "The UK’s future skills-based immigration system" that was published while Theresa May was PM: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-uks-future-skills-based-immigration-system A new report will be published this month by the Migration Advisory Committ...

Re: (non EU) Germany to UK on Tier 2 worth it?

Do you know anything as to what it could look like? WIll it be more/less or equally difficult as it is currently? I think it'll be easier for people with degrees, work experience and English proficiency. Here's an interesting report: https://www.lawcom.gov.uk/project/simplifying-the-immigration-rul...

Re: (non EU) Germany to UK on Tier 2 worth it?

Do you already have a job or are planning to apply for jobs in UK? I don't have a job but I keep on applying. I'm waiting for the Conservatives to release details of the new points-based immigration system this month as it'll give me more clarity on what to expect in 2021. My other option is to do ...

Thanks for replying. Yeah being stuck with the employer and fully depending on them for residence status is tricky as is. I am based in Berlin. Where are you planning to move?
My first choice is the UK because of the language. But I also speak French so I'm considering France and Belgium as well.

Re: (non EU) Germany to UK on Tier 2 worth it?

Well the quality of life will always be higher in places where you speak the language and can integrate in the society so UK would rank higher in this case (just for the language) Hello simple_explorer1, my advice is to get the German citizenship then consider moving to Ireland where you won't have...

Re: Tier 4 and the two-year post-study work visa

The Migration Advisory Committee has already found that this is not the case, and the government said in the December 2018 immigration white paper that they intend to get rid of the RLMT for all skilled worker application. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-uks-future-skills-based-immig...

Re: Tier 4 and the two-year post-study work visa

a cynical person could think that your focus is not on work or study but on moving to the UK by any means necessary. Yes, you got me! I'm guilty as charged lol In all seriousness, I fell in love with the UK and my focus is to live there permanently. Thank you for the link though, it's pretty good. ...

Tier 4 and the two-year post-study work visa

Hi all, I'm a Canadian citizen interested in working in the UK. I'm over 30 so I don't qualify for a Tier 5 visa. I've been applying to jobs in London and getting replies but everything stops when I say that I need visa sponsorship... Anyway, I'm thinking about studying in the UK so that I use the t...

Location transfer in UK with same company and job – effect on Tier 2

If I get a job at a company in Birmingham on a Tier 2 visa and then they transfer me to their head office in London (doing the same job), would that affect the visa at all?

After foreign contract ends, applying to another job at HQ in UK - Tier 2 possible?

If I get a 6-month contract with a company in Canada and then apply to another job at their head office in the UK right before or right after the contract in Canada ends, will they be able to sponsor me on a regular Tier 2 visa (not ICT)? Or would I be considered pre-selected because I had already w...

RLMT and the UK's future skills-based immigration system

I read in a document published by Home Office entitled "The UK's future skills-based immigration system" that a new immigration system will be implemented in a phased approach from January 2021. Under the new policy, the Resident Labour Market Test will be abolished. I'm based in Canada and it's alm...

Tier 2 sponsorship by NHS trusts, hospitals and universities

Can an employer transfer me on a Tier 2 General visa (not ICT)?

I live in Canada and was wondering if a company with a subsidiary in London could transfer me to the UK on a Tier 2 General visa by advertising the job and carrying out a RLMT. My goal is to eventually apply for ILR then UK citizenship and I know that I can't do that on an Intra-Company Transfer visa.
