Re: OCI Minor Application- Birth Certificate

Its good to have an apostilled birth certificate handy when dealing with Indian authorities in India. I then have it counter certified by the Indian consultate. Never had a problem in India with govt official in India.

Re: Update OCI on Aadhar Card

An Aadhaar card is not proof of citizenship. You don't have to be a citizen to get one, just a resident for 182+ days. Good question though, I'm not sure if UDAI have thought of such a scenario to change citizenship details.

Re: Changing surname on Indian passport

Follow the advice given here: https://www.vfsglobal.com/india/uk/NEW_Indian_Passport.html I am sure they would be able to make sense from the documents provided if the marriage certificate does not have your married surname. Maybe what you read was that the married surname has to be in the marriage ...

Re: How to find out if my partner is divorce

You would have to ask him to legalise the divorce certificate for use in the UK. See this page: https://www.phclondon.org/consular/attestation/ to begin the process. The document would need to be certified as authentic, then certified by the Ministry of External affairs as bearing an authentic signa...

Re: Can the immigration authorities refuse my application?

To grant a student visa, you must present yourself as a genuine student. If you have an intent to migrate, and the paperwork you present them suggests that, then they might not grant you a visa. What they look for: 1. Sufficient funds to live in Australia ($70 a day for the entire course + funds for...

Re: OCI for Minor "relationship with root india" ?

Certified is not the same as apostilled. An apostilled document is at a higher level. Courts and public authorities in India have to accept an apostilled document by law - they don't have to accept a certified copy and can always reject it.

Re: Re-acquiring Indian citizenship after OCI & passing it to new born child

Have you done any research on what is required? A simple Google search would have answered quite a few of them. Not sure what you mean by "summer year" Read this first: https://www.vfsglobal.com/india/australia/oci_pio_service/Overseas_Citizen_of_India_OCI.html 1. You need to hold the OCI for 5 year...

Re: OCI documents

1. You can obtain the document on basis of one parent. If your father has a foreign passport use that one instead. 2. Use colour copies - many countries (such as Australia) only accept scanned coloured copies. 3. You would have to make an affidavit to attest that the signature has changed. She shoul...

You will first have to renounce her Indian citizenship. Make sure you get several notarised copies of her Indian passport before you hand it over during the process. Then you will need to apply for the OCI at the nearest FRRO office. See https://ociservices.gov.in/ After you get the OCI, you would t...

Re: OCI for Minor "relationship with root india" ?

If you held an Indian passport at any time, you are classified as the "root".

You are the child's father, so please select that option.

Also, if you want to avoid hassles now or later down in life, I suggest you apostille the birth certificate.

Re: Minor's Indian passport renewal in India

You could put your UK address down along with proof of residence in the UK. Ideally, if you get that proof attested by an Indian notary, it will speed things up as the Indian police would have to accept a notarial certification. If you are forced to put in the temporary Indian address, you could mak...

Interesting scenario. The Indian government OCI scheme is silent on multiple citizenships. You would have to ask the High Commission for advice. Please post their response here for the benefit of the community.
