There is no such thing as 5 year route. The nationality laws says that if you are married to a British citizen, the qualifying period is 3 years otherwise it is 5 years. UKVI will know under which you apply - personally in my case applied on five year basis, documents covering five years, married to BC and got 6(1) on the certificate (at the time didn't even know what 6(1) or 6(2) meant!). I’m filling the British citizenship form I’m married with bc but I want to go for 5 year rout as absences are too much for 3 years. Also I’ve my IRL in 2017. I’ve been in UK 11 years.
