Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Update: My process is now complete. A little over 7 months from citizenship application to passport (and supporting docs, which are returned separately) in hand. I know I have been one of the lucky ones who had smooth sailing and a relatively short timeline, which is funny because I actually wasn't ...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Thanks!! A colleague took my photo in our offices on my cell phone. I uploaded to the website and after a couple of false starts (shadows or too dark) the photo was accepted by the site. @Ballet (or anyone else applying from Johannesburg) - where did you take your photo for the online passport appli...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

@Ballet (or anyone else applying from Johannesburg) - where did you take your photo for the online passport application? The one I took at Foto First was just rejected, so I'm a smidge irritated, as they assured me it would meet the criteria! (Apologies for the slightly off topic question)

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Thanks Faircape, I don't know why I didn't see your message before. I have definitely been one of the lucky ones with my relatively swift timeline. I had my ceremony today - very quick and simple. There were 12 or 13 of us, each person recites the oath or affirmation (depending on whether you're rel...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

They confirm receipt of the online application, but not receipt of the documents. The only way I (and I think most people here) knew that my documents were safely delivered was via the courier.

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Hi David On the referee front, if you're doing the online application, when you get to the end there will be two referee documents to print out. You attach your photo to each one and get the referee to fill in his/her details and sign that it's you in the photo and that they're willing to vouch for ...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Update: My curiosity got the better of me and I asked the lady who emailed me about my documents if I needed to wait to get them back before finding out the decision. She said she could tell me now...and my application has been approved 😊😊😊

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

So, I got an email from Nationality Courier Service last night, saying a decision has been made (but not what that decision is) and asking how I want my documents returned. I assume the decision will be included with the documents (which the courier is collecting on Friday), so it seems an answer is...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

I also did my biometrics in September (on the 11th) and haven't heard anything back yet - feels like it's taking a bit longer than some of the others that applied from South Africa. But I only waited 6 weeks or so between submitting my application and the request for biometrics, which was pretty qui...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

I'm sure it will be good news! Holding thumbs you hear back from her soon. So, I have received an email from this amazingly helpful lady today that a decision has been made, how do I want my documents returned. I am sure she must be teasing me... I have asked her to please give me the outcome, I now...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Exciting! Congratulations Hi Rabbit123 I was given the date and told that if I couldn’t make it then the onus is on me to arrange an extension as the certificates have an expiry date. I had emailed before receiving the invitation to ask for a specific date range as I am travelling a lot in the next ...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

I did 😊 Quick and painless, though I would recommend that if you are going to do biometrics in Joburg, give yourself a bit of extra time (if, like me, you follow the procedure set out in the letter and on the TLS website, and make an appointment), as they're doing construction and there was a bit of...
