Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Another thing (and still reading through the forms, so apologies): my daughter is now an adult. So her passport application required a government-issued photo id (can be certified, not original). My son is still a minor, so his application doesn't ask for that.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

fbrlad and all: I reread it. You do need to send them a government-issued photo id, but if you live outside of Ireland, it can be a certified copy. It does not need to be the original. It's not an Irish passport that they ask for, just a state-issued photo id. It also asked for my Irish passport num...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone. I applied for FBR for my kids over 2 years ago. But good news! The applications have been approved. We applied in early August of 2019. Their certificates arrived this month (September 2021). I am now applying for passports. Anyone have any advice there? I believe it says that you must ...

Yes, from months of seeing posts it definitely appears that US applications are being managed as a priority over all others.
Hi Celtic67. We are US applicants and we have just surpassed 2 years of waiting.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone. I don't think there is much consistency in terms of when they are processing some of these applications, but I think they are processing them. Some have been lucky while others have had very long waits. I sent in paperwork for my children in August 2019. It was all received. In December...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you so much for these replies. I had been trying to reach the passport office but it looks like that will not do any good so I will just sit and wait. It is good to know that others received confirm of address emails in December and then nothing. The website says that they are working through...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

May 2019 applicant here. This morning (Sunday, by the way) I received the confirmation of address email. Over 25 months since original applications and 9 months since I sent in updated photographs of my children. I hope things move faster from here on and I hope this is encouraging for others who h...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I received a confirm address email in December 2020, and nothing since. When I got that email, I just wrote back and said: "yes, that is still my address." Should I have done something further? Did they actually want a utility bill or some other proof of address? Next month, it will be two years sin...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone. I initially applied for my kids in August 2019. I received an address confirm email in December 2020, and no communication since. I know that they shut down because of COVID, but now I'm beginning to wonder if we are lost in a pile somewhere. I emailed, but no response. Should I call? I...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi LauraKathleen. You and I are in a similar situation. I applied for my kids in August 2019. I just received the confirmation of address email on December 21, 2020. I replied immediately but I have not heard anything further -- no congratulations email, no tracking number, and nothing in the regula...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all, and congratulations to those who have recently been added. That is wonderful. I am an Irish citizen already as my dad was born in Ireland. I am applying for my kids. I recently renewed by Irish passport in NY. I made two mistakes in the passport app (submitting a short-form birth certificate...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi Sulla and all. Perhaps you can add me to your list. I sent in my kids' application on August 1, 2019, from the US to Balbriggan via USPS Priority Mail. I received an email today that they received the application and the supporting paperwork in Balbriggan. The email said that applications can tak...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi Lee. Yikes about your passport. So glad you got it back! My application was for my kids, so I had four passports with me that day: my father's, my own, and one for each of my kids. When I mailed the package off, I had a panic attack that I had enclosed the originals along with the copies. Quickly...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you, Lee! I thought perhaps I was going crazy (which is not too far off), and kept looking at the list. It is very confusing though: My application has two lists. One is short; one is much longer. The longer one includes school secretary, so I went with that. I was nervous about it though. As ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you, Tom. That is the exact list I have, so hoping (very much hoping) that all is well there.

I am going to do as you say and send in my parents' marriage certificate and mine, with a note and the application numbers.

Thank you!

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you, Sulla. Yes, that makes sense about the marriage certificates. I will get those together immediately and send them asap in the hopes they can be added to the file. I wish I could take a photo of the app I filled out and send it. There are two lists, one includes a school secretary. I will ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Looking at my copy. There are actually 2 lists of acceptable witnesses. One says school secretary, one does not. In any case, I see that the person's title who signed mine is Registrar. I hope I didn't talk to up.

Thanks again for the patience here.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all. Thanks for your response, Lee. My application does list school secretary as an acceptable witness. I wish I could attach a photo. As for the marriage licenses, wondering if I should send them in. It's strange to me though: after all birth certificates say I am my father's child, and that I a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone. Nice to meet you. I just began this process for my kids, so I'm posting a timeline that I suspect I won't be finalizing until sometime next year. I'm very anxious about the whole process and hope that I did everything right. Here's my current timeline: 8/1/19: filled out online applicat...
