Re: Foreign Birth Registration

A bit more info: It was just 7 days from congratulations email to receipt of the paper certificate, much quicker than the time it took for my documents to arrive in Dublin (via France, rather eccentrically). It was delivered to me by Royal Mail and I was required to sign (I'm not sure what they woul...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It’s great reading about all the approvals. Thanks to everyone for posting their timelines. It really helps the newbies like me. I notice most people were asked for more docs along the way. Does anyone get through without a request for more docs or are they really picky about everything? They could...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Got the congratulations email today! This will thus be my penultimate update (ultimate update will be when certificate physically in hand). As a reminder, I applied for FBR for my son when he was three months old and thus by the time they began processing his application his photos were too old (ph...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

"The processing fee has not been paid on your application and this is now due." So I have gone forward with the payment. I was wondering, will this push my application to the back of the queue as it states "supporting documents received"? Thanks. It sure seems like they're using any reason to depri...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

As it looks like August 2022 applications are getting address confirmation now, wondering if anyone has been waiting longer than 9 months? My docs were received beginning of June 2022 and still have not heard anything since. Debating if I should try contacting them if it gets to a year. Yes, I rece...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

This is just a to heads-up for those applying for passports from the UK. Royal Mail took two weeks to deliver the documents from England to Dublin (they sent them via France!) and packages from Dublin take "a week too ten days to clear customs" in the UK according to Royal Mail.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Congrats JaneKnits and ReturningIrish, really good to see them progressing again. And credit to the Irish government for how they are managing it all. It's an annoying wait, but I suspect the way they are controlling the virus means it is actually going to be shorter than it would be than if they t...

ReturningIrish,

I also thought it would be well into January or Feb 2021 before I saw anything, I guess we were close before this last lockdown!

Congratulations!
Thank you, JaneKnits, and congratulations to you too!

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I had a slightly different situation. My grandmother lied about her age when she married my grandfather (she made herself nine years younger on the marriage certificate). If she manged to convince your grandad that she was almost a decade younger she must have had some great genes. Lucky you! Haha :D

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Yesterday we received an email to say that my daughter's entry into the FBR will be approved shortly and asking us to confirm our postal address. I'd accepted it could be many months before we heard anything more, so I'm delighted that we're now at this stage. It's very exciting! Good luck to everyo...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

After 14 months, there has now been some movement on my daughter's application for citizenship by descent. We had an email on Friday asking for new photos as the ones we sent with her application are now considered out of date. I posted the new photos this morning. Here's an updated timeline. FBR ap...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I'm afraid I don't have any updates on my daughter's application, but I just wanted to thank everyone for sharing and especially Sulla for keeping track of everything, we'd all be in the dark without your hard work. A belated "merry Christmas" to everyone who celebrated on Wednesday. :D

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone, I was born in England and applied to the register of foreign births September 2016, thanks to my Offaly-born grandmother. I was added to the register in February 2017. My daughter was born in June of this year and we have now applied for her name to be added to the register. My mother-i...
