i just called them, and they picked up the phone and then i asked for appointment which ever was the next and they gave me the appointment. nothing too complecated.

i asked home office and lady on the phone said that although they are advised to say dependants should accompany, but if i bring along a letter from my wife saying why she and the toddler couldnt make it then that should be fine, but then i must have all the documentation for the dependants with me....

called the immigration info and the call centre lady said that for this question they have been told to advise that if possible the dependants should attend. but, if not possible, e.g wife caring for baby, or some other genuine reason, then a letter from the dependant about why they cant attend and ...

along with the documents, it would be a nice idea to use the "notes" part of the form to explain the reason for travel and also state that we have no intention to stay beyond visa and that we have very close ties with our country and thus will return. also explain how they will bring money with them...

i have very difficultly swallowed the 4-5 year rule. if ilr is made 6 years, i'll pack my bags and leave now. this is very unwelcoming attitude from the gov
