Re: Adult application based on residence for UK, EU/EEA & Swiss nationals

If you moved here in May 2015 then you would have to declare that on the application form, so you would need to wait at least until May this year to complete the required 5 years' residence before applying. My experience tells me that your three proofs from year one needn't all be from May 2015 - th...

Re: Adult application based on residence for UK, EU/EEA & Swiss nationals

I just read the requirements as meaning I had to produce three proofs of residence dated from any month within each of the five years prior to applying. In fact I provided three proofs with a date in 2014, 3 for 2015, ... up to 2018 - the numerical year prior to my application. I thought afterwards ...

Re: Acknowledgement letter received 5 months after applying

Last year most people were waiting for months between application and acknowledgement - far longer than in previous years. Recently, though, times to acknowledgement have come down. Poster markem has done some very nice work going through the timeline threads to see how long people are typically wai...

Re: Next citizenship ceremonies will be in Spring 2020

If it's the same as me which is most likely (UK citizen), you just send photos and payment only. Am I right in thinking there's no need to get the photos signed by a solicitor at the approval stage? You just need to write your application reference on the back of each. Solicitor/notary not required...

Re: Next citizenship ceremonies will be in Spring 2020

I got my letter about a week ago and even though it said "please send the fee within 10 days of this letter" the letter wasn't actually dated. I thought that when I received my letter as well, but later saw it was dated on the reverse side, right at the top, and with a date 4 days prior to my recei...

Re: Citizenship Passport Question

My passport came back a week after I submitted it. That was in August 2019, and other people since then have been reporting similar turnaround times. I sent the passport by registered post along with the rest of my documents, and it came back registered post as well (at least I'm pretty sure I had t...

Re: Court rules "continuous residence" means you CANNOT LEAVE IRELAND AT ALL for year before application

The Minister and the Appeal Court deserve credit for expediting this, as do the appeal judges for unanimously overturning the “unworkable”, “overly literal” and “unduly rigid” High Court ruling on the definition of continuous residence. It was unfortunate that that High Court ruling came just before...

Re: Foreign passport renewal during Irish citizenship application - inform INIS?

Thanks for the replies - as recommended I'll send a copy of the photo ID page when I get the new passport.

I'm not sure if I should wait to receive acknowledgment letter and application number from INIS before doing so, though I'm hoping I'll have received that before my new UK passport.

Foreign passport renewal during Irish citizenship application - inform INIS?

I submitted my application for Irish citizenship a few months ago, sending in my current and previous UK passports at the time. My current UK passport expires in a few months so I need to renew it soon. Does anyone know if I need to inform INIS, or even send them the new UK passport when I receive i...
